This role is a full-time, on-site, technical leadership position located in our Salt Lake City office where you will collaborate with industry leading engineering talent strategically located throughout the country. You will lead teams of engineers in the development of advanced systems that provide integrated sensor and signal processing capability in support of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. Our work in areas such as high-capacity broadband communications, signal processing & analysis, tactical SIGINT, & wireless communications continually challenges our extraordinary engineers to solve problems & make the world a safer place. Primary Responsibilities: In this position you will collaborate closely with other technical leaders across AST and with customers and partner organizations as you pursue strategic and technical objectives. You will apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to develop industry leading solutions, and contribute to the development of new and innovative principles and concepts. You will provide the technical leadership to maintain vibrancy in AST’s products as AST continues to demonstrate thought leadership to the Intelligence Community (IC). As an Associate Director you will be a key member of the Engineering Center Technical Leadership Team and will collaborate with other Engineering Center Leaders as you pursue and implement AST technical objectives. You will ensure technical integrity and effective engineering implementation across all levels of project execution. You will advise development teams, management, and customers on product and system solutions that satisfy their needs. You will also provide mentorship and leadership to other engineers within the organization with a focus on the continual development of engineering talent. **This is an ONSITE position at our Salt Lake City, UT location. ** Qualifications/Experience Needed:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience developing high-speed processing hardware, embedded systems, using industry standard FPGA architectures
- Minimum of 5 years of program or product technical leadership managing engineering teams throughout the entire Systems lifecycle
- Experience in a lead role on a geographically dispersed team or program
- Experience in defining and scoping system-level technical efforts for bidding, proposal, or program execution activities
- Experience in system-level integration and testing of advanced, custom processing systems, testbeds, and software
- Experience implementing complex high-speed synthesizable algorithms using VHDL and/or SystemVerilog
- Experience in all aspects of FPGA development using industry standard FPGA tools such as Vitis, Vivado, and Quartus
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an attention to details
- Current and Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain higher DoD clearances
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
- Experience with and/or general understanding of microwave RF design concepts
- Experience with and/or general understanding of optical signal processing
- Experience with or understanding of modern FEC algorithms
- Experience interpreting Standards
- Experience working with bit-level data
- Experience and/or knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP
- Experience with or basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing
- Experience with Configuration Management tools, such as git
- Existing TS/SCI clearance (Active within the last 24 months)
