Beach Street , Haltom City, TX, 76137 USA Position Role Type:Hybrid Collins Aerospace is seeking to hire a Landing Gear Senior Design Engineer. You will report to the Military Value Stream, Design Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing Landing Gear designs in response to military customer requirements and Collins’s design methodologies. You will have an opportunity to be involved from initial conceptual design to in-service support. You will also have an opportunity to support existing military programs, not limited too but including F-35, T7-A, F-16 and Apache Helicopters. You will also collaborate with various groups such as Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Operations. In addition, you will work with internal and external customers on a global level.

- Conducts design of Landing Gear and Systems components working within an integrated product development team and coordinating with divisional engineering to ensure product excellence and integrity is achieved.
- Liaise with customer/suppliers for all design related issues
- Foster strong customer relationships through accountability, transparency, and credibility
- Work through requirements compliance and verification and validation activities.
- Generates design documentation such as tolerance stack-ups, developmental and kinematic assemblies, interface agreements and proximity sensing analysis
- Generates layouts and conducts trade studies to determine optimal design solutions
- Generate detailed part and assembly definition drawings and models/FTA using CATIA V5
- Create associated parts lists supporting part definition
- Investigates design related issues and develops effective solutions
- Develop Landing Gear and Landing Gear mechanisms from customer specifications considering regulatory requirements and Collins Engineering methodologies.
- Present designs at internal design reviews to ensure the design meets requirements and expectations
- Generates test requirements and supports the test lab for design related tests
- Design to requirements and work with engineering team on requirements management
- Performs Engineering investigations into failures and participates in Root Cause and Corrective Action
- Ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of problems
- Complies with all EH&S and ethics policies and guidelines and conducts themselves in a safe and ethical manner.
- Maintains compliance to ITAR and regulatory requirements
- Communicate and make presentations to internal and external customers
- Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
- Perform other duties as required
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

- Experience with 3D modeling software
- Familiarity with aerospace product life cycle development and management
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)-Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Familiar with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41
- Experience with MS Office Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- CATIA V5 detailed modeling and FTA generation experience
- Experience in new product development with a background in kinematics, mechanics, and hydraulics
- Working knowledge of high strength materials, manufacturing processes, and surface treatments
- Landing gear & related systems experience
- Aircraft in-service support experience
- Experience with Matrix One, SmarTeam, and/or Teamcenter PDM systems
- Demonstrated ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
