Job Summary: The Senior Principal Firmware Design Engineer is responsible for requirements analysis and decomposition, sub-system design, modeling, simulation, and design verification test. The Sr Principal FW Design Engineer will work with other experienced engineers, will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and will have the ability to work independently yet collaboratively in a team environment. Responsibilities to Anticipate: As a critical team member, the Senior Principal FW Design Engineer will design, develop, integrate test the most technologically advanced Radars in the world. The Senior Principal FW Design Engineer is responsible for developing requirements analysis and decomposition of sub-system and circuit design, modeling, simulation and design verification test.
- Digital Signal Processing and Design: Active noise cancellation, automatic line-enhancement signal processing, Kalman filters, Digital Up/Down Converters, CIC Filters, Polyphase and Half-band Filters, A/D Converters, D/A Converters, DDR, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs, Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems
- Digital Hardware: Subsystem/Module Digital Circuits, FPGA knowledge, COTS Interfaces, High Speed Memory Interfaces, Subsystem Development, VME/PCI/SPI interfaces Digital Systems, System Trades, Architecture, Embedded Processing
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree discipline and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Digital Signal Processing with experience in digital noise cancellation, Kalman filters, and multi-rate signal processing for communication systems
- Experience with Intel/Altera and AMD/Xilinx FPGAs
- Experience with Intel Quartus Prime Pro and Vivado
- Experienced designing in Matlab/Simulink with DSP Builder and HDL Coder blocksets
- Digital hardware design and firmware integration
- Embedded Linux (C/C++), SystemVerilog/VHDL, and model-based design in Simulink
- Experience with Python/Shell
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- 20+ years’ experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microsemi FPGAs
- Expertise with High Level Modeling tools and languages such as SystemVerilog or SystemC
- Experience with analytical tools such as Cadance/Altium/Spice
- Familiarity with simulation and CAD tools is a plus
- Familiarity with code coverage tools for evaluating test coverage
