The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international. As a key member of the Avionics Test Engineering leadership team, the Senior Project Engineering ensures the successful execution of test solution projects from inception, through deployment to customers, as well as long-term support. Typical test solutions include Optical, In-circuit Test, Boundary Scan, as well as COTS components such as switch systems, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies and other related equipment coupled with custom software for performing Environmental Stress Screening as well as testing circuit card assemblies and top-level products. The ideal candidate will have an unwavering positive attitude, be highly responsive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and strive to perform high-quality work proactively and efficiently. This person will consistently demonstrate professionalism in their interactions with all levels of the organization and will routinely go above and beyond expectations in performing their work. This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires working closely with engineers and leaders, at various locations around the globe, to ensure project success. Organizationally, the role reports to an Engineering Manager in the Avionics Test Engineering organization. This role can be either a hybrid or onsite position. However, the expectation is that there will be periods of time during a project development life cycle when onsite presence is required more frequently. May be eligible for relocation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead project technical execution and maintain performance metrics for decision making and continuous improvement purposes
- Manage project scope (requirements and change requests) ensuring it meets agreed to commitments
- Generate and maintain project schedules with understood dependencies, deliveries, and critical path Utilize Earned Value (EV) methods for managing project budget (and schedule)
- Ensure project meets quality expectations
- Identify risks and opportunities and resolve them through proactive ownership
- Prepare well-crafted presentations reporting project status to leadership teams
- Develop Engineering estimates and proposals for potential projects and gaining organizational buy-in
- Strong leadership traits and practices
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively execute multiple active projects
- Comfortable managing projects with scope comprised of numerous intricate requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
- Sound technical knowledge in at least one of the following engineering disciplines: systems, mechanical, electrical, or software
