POSITION SUMMARY Job Description: Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical, automation, MES, and digital systems. This includes gaining deep process knowledge of the production lines and excelling in troubleshooting various issues. Execute comprehensive end-to-end projects within the realm of electrical and automation engineering. You will be responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, developing detailed technical documentation and specifications, overseeing the procurement process, programming systems, and conducting assembly and commissioning activities. Responsible for capability building in technicians and operations for all new automation. You will also actively collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists the Engineering and Maintenance Manager in preparing equipment specifications, detailed layouts, and directing the installation of capital equipment.
- Interfaces with Maintenance and Production Managers to provide assistance in the operation of key production equipment. Coordinate personnel (e.g. technicians, instrument fitters, contractors, etc.) to ensure the Automation and MES objectives are satisfied.
- Conducts Engineering studies of equipment operations to ascertain design of electrical/mechanical/operational malfunctions and make recommendations for improving performance/productivity.
- Reviews spare parts and PM requirements for new equipment with Production Maintenance. Ensures that spare parts are ordered/stocked and PM's are implemented in a timely manner.
- Reviews design and specification proposals submitted by vendors or Division Engineering with appropriate plant departments to ensure compatibility with established plant design and operational criteria. Ensures at all times safe installations and operations through proper design, protection systems, procedures, and training.
- Ensures at all times the technical integrity and performance of the Automation and MES Equipment.
- Records a log of major project activities and prepares required tables and sketches to clarify project activities.
- Responsible for training personnel in Electrical Maintenance, Maintenance Mechanics and Production in conjunction with new equipment installations to ensure efficiencies of automation goals are achieved and sustained.
- Models the Springville Compass in all work-related activities.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Engineering and Maintenance Manager.
- Associates Degree (required) or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related degree.
- Previous electronic, automation or engineering/maintenance experience and previous manufacturing experience required. 2-3 years’ experience in related field preferred.
- Knowledge on Digital technologies implementation (e.g. Vision Systems, Data Analytics, Predictive Maintenance, etc.).
- PLC programming with automation and process control skills required.
- Allen-Bradley experience required.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Project management experience preferred.
