A successful candidate will work closely with certification management, airline customers, Sustaining Engineering, and New Product Development IPTs to define and implement reliability programs for existing products and predict component and system life of new products to ensure desired reliability and extended operating life of products. In this role you will interpret, analyze, validate, and allocate S&R requirements at the system, subsystem, and LRU level and verify their fulfilment. Additionally, this role will evaluate field return data to identify negative reliability trends and develop appropriate corrective action plans. Furthermore, you will conduct Safety Assessments on different levels, resulting from customer specifications, system/equipment criticality and engineering proposals. Primary Responsibilities:
- Advise design engineering group during system architecture definition and selection, application, and test of system components.
- Recommend design/analysis/test methods for achieving required levels of product safety and reliability.
- Develop appropriate S&R program plans based on customer and contractual obligations.
- Perform reliability prediction analysis using field return data as well as industry standard calculation methods.
- Perform different analysis types (FMEA, FMECA, FTA, Oxygen Hazard and Fire Risk Analysis, SSA) to facilitate the design and certification processes.
- Develop and perform reliability improvement test plans (Robustness testing, HALT/HASS, ESS, ALT)
- Prepare reports and summaries to disclose results and highlight areas for further investigation.
- Participate and advise resolution of issues through FRACAS process.
- Prepare technical reports as required by customers.
- Support and coordinate with interfacing disciplines such as hardware, firmware, software, customer support, and program management.
- Analyze part removal and reliability.
- Compute MTBUR, MTBF and review performance guarantees.
- Participate in periodic program reviews with internal and external customers.
- Effectively communicate emerging reliability concerns to engineering leadership
- Assist in development of reliability alerts inside an internal field return database to quickly capture negative trends and then to coordinate with the appropriate department to implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate shortcomings or inaccuracies in field return data and work with appropriate department to ensure accurate data is being provided.
- Assist in continued expansion of reliability field collection database to acquire additional data that can be used for continued product and process improvement.
- Apply statistical analysis to justify and quantify areas requiring improvement, as well as quantifying improvement realized from implemented actions.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
