Location: Melbourne, Australia (Remote)
Role Summary:
As the Specialist of APAC Accounting, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the accounting operations for our APAC entities, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, and Vietnam. A Hands-On role you will be responsible for month-end close, statutory compliance, and operational support for in-country accounting and finance matters. This role requires a solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally and with teams across different regions and time zones.
What You’ll Do:
Prepare, lead and oversee the month-end accounting close for the APAC entities
Validate month-end account balances through detailed review of account reconciliations and journal entries
Analyze income statement and balance sheet account fluctuations
Support income, indirect and other various tax processes, including working with 3rd parties on assessments and other projects
Assist in the management of banking relationships and review and approval of payments
Ownership of statutory audits, including managing requests and communication with various external service providers, auditors and tax advisors
Support process improvement projects and new business initiatives as they arise
What You’ll Need:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
3+ years in a financial accounting role
Familiarity with month-end close processes
Knowledge of Local and International taxes and regulations (AU/NZ BAS, GST, PAYG, Payroll taxes, Worcover etc)
Solid understanding of accounting for international entities, including statutory requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA, CA, or equivalent professional certification
Public accounting experience
Experience with SAP, FloQast, Auditboard, Alteryx, UiPath and/or Tableau
Attention to detail with high level of ethics and integrity
Takes ownership of areas of responsibility, proactive, self-motivated
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams across different regions
