Role DescriptionSalesforce is hiring a technical, creative, proactive individual to lead communications for Data Cloud, our fastest-growing organic innovation. Data Cloud brings all of an organization’s disconnected data together to help organizations gain a 360 degree view of their customers. AI is only as good as the data powering it, and Data Cloud is crucial here. Data Cloud enables organizations to take advantage of generative AI, guaranteeing that outcomes are accurate and relevant.Passion for emerging technology and the ability to understand and translate sophisticated technologies for the media is crucial. This person will partner with cross-functional partners across comms, marketing, product, and other teams to manager an external communications program for Data Cloud that drives relevance, educates audiences on why it matters, and articulates why it’s different than any other product on the market.The ideal candidate should bring a strong mix of strategic and tactical communications experience, with an ability to build, own, and implement successful launches and programs. This person must be able to move fast and collaboratively on complex issues, demonstrate a bias towards action, and become comfortable with storytelling across a diverse number of channels. Responsibilities (what you’ll be doing):
- Build and drive a comprehensive communications program for Data Cloud. Lead product announcements, thought leadership opportunities, customer stories and more. You will have room to define the program scope.
- Become a subject matter expert on Data Cloud. Own the comms narrative around it and enable the broader comms org on it
- Forge deep relationships with best-in-class business, tech, and trade media and lead inbound requests on a range of issues
- Write and edit a variety of content including technical product announcements, executive bylines, and thought leadership pieces.
- Identify compelling stories beyond our big product moments and telling them across Salesforce channels as well as landing earned media on them
- Understand market trends and how we should be tapping into them to drive relevance. Also understand competitive threats and advise on how we respond.
- Find new ways to articulate our data stories beyond traditional media relations - including video, owned channels, paid media and social
- Partner with marketing, customer marketing, product, analyst relations, and other teams to ensure everyone is along for the ride
- Build and train an extensive bench of diverse spokespeople
- Act as a trusted counselor to Data Cloud partners on the most effective way to drive relevance and awareness for Data Cloud
- 8+ years of experience, preferably in enterprise technology or related area.
- Able to dive in and understand complex technologies
- Thrives under pressure - able to deliver ongoing media results for high profile announcements
- Comfortable leading multiple projects at once, and shifting fast when needed
- Can work cross-functionally to ensure shared success for comms and related partners
- Strong writing and critical thinking skills
- Able to work effectively within a large organzation across multiple teams
- Comfortable interacting with media (you will become the Data Cloud go-to)
