Job Description

Job Purpose

  • A Team Lead who has proven experience leading a development team and is comfortable instructing, and mentoring senior team members, in functional and non-functional requirements
  • To Line Manage a team of senior engineers
  • To build quality working, secure, software that users want to use, that your team will happily maintain and that you will be proud of
  • To help the team achieve their goals to the best of your ability
  • To contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by helping the team seek out improvements and to deliver on them in a continuous but pragmatic way
  • To promote the company values and SAFe methodology within the team

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Work closely with the team scrum master, product owner to ensure a smooth delivery of the team commitments
  • Work closely with release train architects and business analysts to help design the functional, non-functional and security requirements of features to meet the definition of ready
  • Engage and assist team members in implementing committed features, whilst ensuring a high level of quality and maintainability
  • Work with the team to demonstrate progress regularly to stakeholders within the team, the release train and the wider company in sprint and PI ceremonies
  • Generate exception-based issue reporting and own agreed path to resolution
  • Drive technology forward to maintain and enhance our market leading products
  • Be an integral part of our on-going transition from monolith to microservices
  • Ensure that best practices are used across our product range
  • Be an opinionated team member who contributes to defining departmental standards
  • Participate in an on-call rota, which will rotate every week, comprising of 5 on-call shifts from 9pm Sunday to 9am Friday (excluding UK office hours)

Key Performance Indicators and Measures

  • Deliver code that adheres to agreed standards and best practises.
  • Ensure meaningful code reviews are carried out for and by all team members.
  • Increase the productivity and throughput of the team through continuous improvements.
  • Release working software that meets the stability and quality metrics agreed by the team and business.

Work Experience and Knowledge

  • Excellent working experience using Microsoft .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, MVC
  • Proven working experience using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Proven working experience using client side technologies (Javascript, Typescript, JQuery, React, CSS)
  • Fluent in REST API design and development
  • Solid in white box and black box client and server side testing (nUnit, Moq, jest or equivalents)
  • Experience developing API level tests (Wiremock, rest-assured or equivalents)
  • Excellent understanding of development methodologies and modelling techniques
  • Working knowledge of container/automation and cloud technologies (Docker, Hashicorp, AWS etc)
  • Good understanding of CI/CD pipeline with multiple daily deployments to production, feature flags etc
  • Experience in building and operating distributed systems
