About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use):05 The Role: Index Management and Production Group Internship The Team: The S&P Dow Jones Indices Index Management and Production Group (IMPG) intern program is 10 week beginning in June 2024. The program seeks to attract high achievers from a diverse pool of undergraduate and postgraduate institutions. As an intern, you will get exposure to several teams within the S&P Dow Jones Indices Index Management and Production Group. Exceptional learning agility, time management, and analytical skills are necessary for your success. You will be able to apply your skills to real-world industry scenarios, gain experience in communicating in a professional environment and contribute to key projects that are critical to the calculation of S&P Dow Jones Indices. Responsibilities and Impact: IMPG interns have the opportunity to assist S&P Dow Jones Indices with achieving its mission to provide benchmarks that accurately gauge the markets and help institutions and individuals make well-informed decisions. Interns will also be provided with the chance to meet with and network with senior business leaders within the Indices unit.
- Interns will spend a significant amount of time utilizing excel to conduct data analysis on S&P Dow Jones index constituents
- Perform analytical research on companies for S&P’s annual IWF (Investable Weight Factor) reconstitution
- Manage projects and deadlines
- Utilize various data vendors to support the maintenance of indices
- Maintain key relationships with other organizations within the company
- Work in close coordination with the operations group to discuss analytical research and improve operational efficiencies
- Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economis, and Finance or equivalent completed no later than May 2025
- Coursework in Math, Quantitative methods, Econometrics and other quantitative areas
- Must be able to work independently on projects
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving, time-management, attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Understanding of financial markets
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA, Python or SQL (not required)
