As an intern in Juniper’s OS infra team, you will work together with other members of the kernel & OS infrastructure team on projects involving the foundation of our network operating systems Junos/Junos Evolved. You will get the opportunity to explore how network operating systems are architected for reliability, scale and performance. You will get exposure to various subsystems in a NOS, like firewalls, HA frameworks, core OS kernels, and middleware frameworks (like distributed pub-sub systems). You will have the opportunity to see virtualization and containerization strategies applied to network devices. OS Infra Software Engineer Intern Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing applications (coding, programming)
- Debugging and testing code
- Documenting and testing new software.
- Researching, investigating and fixing a wide range of technical issues
- Collaborating within and across teams
- Approaching problems and creating solutions
- Proactively learning about new technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area
- Development experience with C++, C, Python, Golang, BASH as well as debuggers such as gdb
- Understanding of source code control systems (git, SVN, etc)
- User level knowledge of Linux and/or FreeBSD. Deeper systems experience is a plus.
- Understanding of IP protocols, TCP, UDP, and basic network utilities on Linux or FreeBSD. Understanding of routing protocols is a plus.
- User level knowledge of virtualization environments such as VMware, Virtualbox, QEMU for running virtual machines.
- Quick learner, team player. Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Good attention to detail, quality focused
