About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use):09 The Role: S&P Global Market Intelligence, a premier sector-focused news and financial information provider, is looking for a DevOps / Release Engineer to join the Release Services team. The Team / The Business: Our Release Services team is responsible for engineering automation solutions for application and database code build and deployments, and server configurations. This team interacts with people from a wide variety of backgrounds across the entire organization and are able to develop a close team dynamic with coworkers from around the globe. Job Summary: As a Release Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the release and DevOps requirements of our development scrum teams. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks including configuration identification, change management, build, deploy, and release processes, artifact management, version control, source code auditing, reporting, environment support, and troubleshooting. You will be instrumental in identifying product rollout requirements, managing project plans, mitigating risks, and overseeing the software development life cycle from inception to production launch and beyond. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage configuration identification, change management, build, deploy, and release processes.
  • Oversee artifact management, version control, source code auditing, reporting, environment support, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify product rollout requirements and execute against project plans.
  • Proactively mitigate risks throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a distributed environment.
  • Participate in after-hours and weekend production deployments.
  • Document work for cross-training purposes and create partner documentation and training materials.
  • Regularly attend operations team meetings and project scrum meetings. 
Experience and Proficiency:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, with the capability to read and comprehend code.
  • Ability to troubleshoot build and deploy issues and exceptions.
  • Proficient in code management concepts (branching, merging, integration, versioning, etc.).
  • Experience with continuous integration toolsets like Jenkins, TFS, VSTS, SonarQube, and GitHub.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, cmd, or Groovy.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with version control in a collaborative code environment (Git/GitHub).
  • Experience in administering and troubleshooting server and application issues on Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux, UNIX, Containers, Kubernetes, and Docker EE.
  • Familiarity with container/microservice architecture, configuration, and deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity in server configuration automation using tools like Ansible.
  • Familiarity with Agile and LEAN principles.
