As a top-tier Partner in platform-driven cloud operations on both AWS & Azure, we work with a wide range of customers across various industries. This gives our CSEs the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, continuously expand their skills and knowledge, and make a significant impact on the business.

What You’ll Do:

We take great pride in building environments that are highly resilient, secure, automated, and cost efficient. You will play a critical role helping us deliver solutions which maximize the power and capabilities AWS and Azure have to offer, while helping RapidScale achieve significant growth targets.

As a Lead CSE, you will serve as a dedicated engineer/architect for a subset of our strategic customer base. You will consult on best practices, manage, maintain, and optimize your customers’ environments, and act as a point of escalation and mentorship for junior engineers. Additionally, you will:

  • Identify near-term and long-term goals with your customers and work together on crafting a shared vision for future success

  • Identify areas for improvement in our deployment pipeline, client project process, as well as upgrade paths

  • Spearhead AWS and/or Azure-related projects including executorship, scoping, design/architecture, and resource allocation

  • Participate in inter-departmental planning meetings on suggested solutions for existing issues as well as systemic improvements

  • Organize and execute training sessions for new workflows and procedure recommendations

  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours escalations, nights, and weekends

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 8 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 6years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 3 years’ experience in a related field; or 20 years’ experience in a related field

  • Requires strong relationship building skills with senior technical counterparts at customers

  • Experience working in a customer-facing position consulting on architecture design and performing Well-Architected Reviews

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform break-fix in AWS and/or Azure, Linux, and Windows environments

  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations, including a deep dive into reliability and scaling issues from both a code and infrastructure perspective

  • Hands-on scripting experience for automating operations & processes (Python preferred)

  • Expertise in core AWS infrastructure services like EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, EBS, EFS, CloudFormation, etc.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Linux and/or Windows administration, Engineering, and Automation (i.e., Ubuntu, RedHat, and CentOS Amazon Linux, etc. or Windows AD, DNS, DHCP, MSSQL, vSphere)

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet and/or Ansible

  • Broad knowledge of various CI/CD tools and the ability to build out and modify CI/CD deployment pipelines.

  • Ability to create and modify Infrastructure-as-Code templates in Terraform

  • Experience working with version control systems including Gitlab

  • A team player with strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with both Windows and Linux administration

  • Multi-cloud experience (i.e., hands-on in both AWS & Azure environments)

  • Familiar with Jira reporting and dashboards

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $140,800.00 - $234,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
