Your Role:

We are seeking a high-quality legal counsel to join our Greater China Legal team on a temporary basis for 6 months.  The role will focus on providing support to our retail and institutional businesses, and providing regulatory advice to product, sales, investments, and other functions of the business. The role will have considerable interaction with both local and overseas colleagues and provides excellent opportunity to get exposure to an in-house work environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide legal support to the maintenance of SFC authorization of offshore (primarily UCITS) and onshore funds and maintenance of MPFA approval of pension funds.

  • Provide legal support to the pension fund business of Invesco Hong Kong.

  • Provide legal support on special fund related projects and initiatives of a non-routine nature.

  • Advise on planning and communications with colleagues in relation to proposed fund initiatives and changes, providing input to support product development.

  • Review, draft and negotiate agreements in support of Invesco’s institutional investment and institutional distribution business (e.g. investment management/advisory agreements, intermediary distribution agreements).

  • Provide legal support to matters relating to various scheme products or business in the PRC.

  • Advise on the legal and regulatory aspects of different parts of the business including product fund launches, marketing advice, other regulatory advice.

  • Advise on general corporate, procurement (including contract review) and commercial matters and provide legal support to various functions including investments, operations, compliance etc.

  • Provide legal support for other ad hoc business projects.

The Experience You Bring:

  • A Hong Kong qualified lawyer that has at least 5 years of PQE.

  • Experience gained either from in-house financial services/asset management companies or leading law firms focusing on financial services sector.

  • Experience dealing with regulators (e.g. SFC and MPFA) in fund authorisation matters would be highly advantageous.

  • Excellent drafting skills and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently but know when to escalate.

  • Ability to work under tight timeframe and apply good analytical skills.

  • English and Chinese reading and writing skills.
