Business Unit/Role Specific Info:
The Summer Internship Program sits under Global Servicing & Business Strategy (GSBS) – the heart of American Express’s global operations and part of our largest division, the Global Servicing Group (GSG). Employing 36,000 colleagues in 25 countries, no two projects or teams are the same. We deliver extraordinary customer care to card members, merchants, and commercial clients around the world, while providing elite credit, collections, and fraud services.
We’re looking for a graduate level intern to support the team on critical and innovative projects as a Summer Business Strategy Manager Intern.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Drive and act as a champion for innovation that improve the customer experience and delivers business value. Share and leverage best practices and provide consultancy to team.
- Apply critical thinking to synthesize customer needs, marketplace dynamics, financial drivers, and business growth opportunities into comprehensive strategies
- Analyse data with analytical, statistical, and optimization techniques to identify insights, opportunities, relationships, and quantify/measure results - to help transform our business operations and drive growth.
- Lead, partner, and collaborate closely with diverse customer groups, such as Technologies and Marketing, to deliver project implementation and successful outcomes.
- Develop cost-benefit analyses to determine feasibility of new opportunities.
- Present your project to senior leaders in our organization.
Skills/Experience:
- Effective interpersonal skills – ability to collaborate and be a great colleague
- Excellent communicator – with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and easy to understand manner
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills - background and interest in both qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Demonstrated curiosity about Strategy/General Management
- Strong project manager. Experience applying Agile/project methodologies is a bonus
- Proficient with analytical and presentation tools, including Excel and PowerPoint
- Willing to take risks and share fresh perspectives.
- Passion for servicing, payments innovation and new technology trends
Minimum Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an advanced Business or Management graduate degree (e.g., MBA, Data/Computer Science, Risk/Compliance/Governance, Finance, Organizational Psychology, Strategic/Operations Management)
- Students must have a graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience, with a proven track record of success in leadership, management or specialized roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to drive business results and manage complex initiatives/large-scale projects.
- Significant experience in strategic decision-making, leadership, and project management.

Salary Range: $38.45 to $87.00 hourly + sign-on bonus
