Overview: 

The Executive Director of Post Production ensures the execution of a high volume of best-in-class digital video and social video content across Condé Nast’s brands into the post-production pipeline. This role will be critical to the content’s success by leading and managing a large organization of creatives, project managers, and technology experts. The Executive Director works closely with brand executives, central corporate functions, and creatives at all levels to ensure the efficient and high-quality delivery of thousands of videos annually. This role is an expert in all aspects of video production and is creative and forward thinking in an industry with evolving technologies and audiences. The Executive Director is a hybrid role that reports to the VP, Global Content Business Operations.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  •  Oversee all editorial video post-production output and processes across Condé Nast’s portfolio of brands 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the department; manage senior team members responsible for all aspects of post production including video editing, project management, media, and technology

  • Identify intra-team and cross-functional projects/initiatives to improve efficiencies, communication, and workflows

  • Oversee departmental budget and hiring of external vendors and freelancers

  • Collaborate with Programming and Operations executives on broader business goals and long-term planning

  • Liaise with corporate functions including Procurement, Finance, and Technology to vet, acquire, and budget for post-production-specific tools, products, and hardware/software

  • Provide strategic insight to long-term growth goals in the business and identify key areas of investment and allocation resourcing

  • Collaborate with Engineering to optimize post-production technologies including storage and archive and automation workflows; adapt to evolving industry and technology changes

  • Manage the organizational structure of the group and collaborate with Content Operations as business and creative needs evolve

  • Lead conversations that arise around new opportunities (e.g., projects, platforms, formats) to account for post-production needs and planning from the outset

  • Develop vendor relationships to expand roster of external post-production facilities and resources

  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment across all team functions and with all internal partners 

Desired Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 10 years experience in combined post-production roles; experience in senior Post Producing or Supervising positions at a network, media company, agency, mid-to-large production or post facility preferred

  • Substantial experience managing a high-volume post-production team or department, preferably making digital content  

  • Extensive experience with all aspects of estimating, budgeting, and actualizing post-production financials

  • Deep knowledge of overall post-production processes, workflows, best practices, and editing platforms, specifically Premiere and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications

  • Experience with scheduling softwares and database tools (e.g. Harvest/Forecast, Airtable, others)

  • Strong knowledge of physical video production, camera specs, and video compression

  • Strong leader with experience in coaching and mentoring 

  • Self-starter with top-notch communication and time-management skills, follow through, and positive and professional teamwork attitude; always proactive and solution-oriented 

  • Ability to oversee many people, projects, and initiatives simultaneously and keep a cool head in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in other types of production or post-production roles a plus

The expected base salary range for this position is from $155,000-$170,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
