DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician is responsible for preparing test articles for testing, including initial assembly and final teardown. The role also involves installing instrumentation into test articles according to engineering standards and assisting in various testing activities as per established procedures and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Preparation: Prepares test articles and associated fixtures, rigs, and equipment for testing. Responsible for assembling test articles according to test requirements, ensuring instrumentation is installed to support functional testing.
  • Test Execution: Assists in testing activities following established procedures and methodologies. Demonstrates an understanding of the function of test equipment and its contribution to the validity of test results. Performs test stand installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Data Acquisition and Reporting: Prepares samples, verifies equipment calibration, and conducts tests in accordance with approved procedures. Organizes and presents test results, methods, and analysis clearly for engineers and customers.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Performs upkeep and maintenance of test equipment, using preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Problem Solving: Solves complex problems using systematic analysis and may mentor others on effective problem-solving techniques. Uses data-driven methods to create solutions, identify root causes, and prevent recurrence.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicates effectively within the team and with customers, contributing to improvement projects related to quality, safety, and process optimization.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Champions proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying and participating in actions that improve safety within the lab or test space

Education, Licenses, Certifications: '

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education, or equivalent experience in a STEM field. A regionally applicable certification or an associate degree in a relevant field may be required.
  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Licenses/Certifications: This position may require licensing to comply with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Internal Candidates: Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on job experience
  • Knowledge of Engine Systems-Function & Working; Fuel Systems Experience would be an added advantage.
  • Carrying out Assembly/Disassembly of Fuel System parts
  • Formulating Test plans for Rigs based on customer requirement.
  • Execute Tests on Rig as per request/Preliminary data analysis.
  • Demonstrate understanding and applies Knowledge on Measurement Principles/Rig System/Diagnostics
  • Uses prescribed and innovative methods and works with limited guidance.
  • Hands on Experience on handling Measurement &Mechanical Tools.
  • Awareness on Measurement Principles.
  • External Candidates: 2-5 years of relevant work experience in mechanical testing, preferably with exposure to engine systems and fuel systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Role- Junior Shop Manager 1

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical tools and testing rigs.
  • Familiarity with engine systems, fuel systems, and measurement principles.
  • Proficient in formulating and executing test plans based on customer requirements.
  • Ability to perform preliminary data analysis and use prescribed and innovative methods with minimal guidance.
  • Awareness of diagnostics, rig systems, and measurement principles for accurate test execution.
