The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (“GRC”) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintain the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessment, and monitor risks.

By partnering closely with business units across the enterprise, we help deliver maximum value to our shareholders and our customers efficiently and effectively through effective risk management and oversight activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing regulatory compliance oversight and guidance to the ICS and GMS business teams,  and be the local point of contact for the Anti-Corruption program.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and maintenance of an effective compliance program, consistent with local market legal requirements and American Express Compliance programs and policies within the business units mainly to: Commercial and Merchant Business

  • Participate in review and implementation of Business Conduct program to ensure adherence with regulatory and policy requirements to ICS, GCG and GMS 
  • Support the Anti-Corruption program in Mexico

  • Liaise as required with the relevant stakeholders

  • Review communications, trainings, Q&A´s, etc submitted by the stakeholders through IMH, FRC and LAC Content Governance

  • Participate in review the Compliance Pillar of AEMP54
  • Additional responsibilities based on team needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong effective communication, influencing and negotiating skills

  • 100% fluent English & Spanish speaker (written and verbal)

  • Solid analytical, wide enterprise thinking and problem-solving skills are required.

  • Team player and strong collaborator

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work within a complex matrix environment.

  • Excellent communication & relationship skills.

  • Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with management.

  • Ability to effectively influence various levels of management in Lines of Business and Staff Groups

  • Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with management.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a highly deadline-intensive environment is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the applicable Regulation in Mexico
  • Knowledge or experience of the following LOB/processes: ICS and Merchants
