Job Category:

Experience Level: Experienced Hire

At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are-with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways.

If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

Skills & competencies
  • You are a versatile, skillful, enthusiastic product designer. You have significant (6+ years) experience across the entire design stack including UX development, visual design, interaction design, and user research, and are comfortable wearing different hats. You love what you do, are continually learning, and demonstrate mastery of your craft.
  • You have deep expertise in user research and data. You have hands-on experience performing and analyzing UX research. You can convert insights into actionable plans, work with teammates to iterate on solutions, and measure the success of your work.
  • Your communication is clear, concise, and engaging. You keep others in the loop, speak respectfully, know how to give constructive feedback, and are a proficient writer (most communication on a remote team happens via text).
  • You are self-directed. You’re proactive, take ownership, and remain accountable with little or no direction. You’re a problem solver and have a propensity towards action while managing your own workload, staying organized, accurately prioritizing tasks, and delivering on time.
  • You work well with people remotely. You understand the pros, cons, and requirements of remote work, and enjoy it.
  • You’re a team player. You exhibit kindness and humility in everyday interactions, are open-minded and empathetic, have a positive attitude, and add more energy than you take. You love collaborating within a cross-functional team.
  • Bonus: you have experience with code. You’re a product designer who is skilled with HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript or a UX engineer with a track record of designing quality interfaces on your own following solid design principles.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll work on cross-functional projects to produce meaningful work for our end users. Here are some things you might tackle as part of the design team:

  • Build a new feature in one of our apps. Collaborate with product and developer teammates and work across the entire design stack speccing out the project, creating user flows, and designing detailed visuals and interactions. Code an interactive prototype in HTML and CSS to hand over to the developers and assist them in implementing it.
  • Refine or change an existing feature. Get a grasp on the business objectives and user needs, dig into the code, and make design decisions to improve the experience of the product.
  • Help define a new component for our design system. Utilize your visual design skills and understanding of design best practices to build out styling for a new element. Create the component in both HTML/CSS and in Figma for future use.
  • Give design critiques to fellow designers. Deliver constructive, tactful, practical feedback on their work.
  • Conduct user research. Utilize advanced UX research methods on complex projects, then synthesize the data and clearly communicate findings to your squad.
  • Lead design discussions. Present solutions based on your understanding of user and business needs. Champion UX best practices to ensure we are all making informed design decisions together.

About the team

You’ll be working at Moody’s CRE, a fully remote team at Moody’s on a mission to gather, organize, and decode the world’s commercial real estate data. Our SaaS platform helps people make better real estate decisions-finding office space, selling apartment buildings, leasing warehouse space, and more. We have a solid position in the market and a suite of growing products. We have ambitious goals for the future and are looking for people who can help us get there.

You’ll be joining us at an exciting time! We are organizing a new product design team within Moody’s CRE that will work on projects and squads across several evolving products. This is a chance to be involved in setting up best practices and a strong culture as we build out this new team together.

We are a fun, passionate, close-knit crew of good-natured people who enjoy working together. We communicate mainly via GitLab/Jira, Slack, and Teams, but get everybody together for face-to-face time at least once a year.
