We are looking for a talented COMMISSIONING ENGINEER to join our team specializing in ENGINEERING for our Cummins Inc. facility in DALLAS, TX.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

Technical Expertise : You’ll apply your deep knowledge of Cummins’ products to develop technical specifications and design configurations that meet customer needs.

Decision Making : Your decisions on product selection, design, and integration will directly impact the performance, optimization, and quality of OEM machines.

Process Improvement : By improving processes like Installation Quality Assurance and OEM integration, you’ll enable high-quality decision-making and product application.

Customer Liaison : You’ll build strong relationships with customer technical counterparts, serving as their primary liaison to deliver specialized product information and resolve complex installation issues.

Voice of the Customer : Translating customer needs into functional product requirements, you’ll provide crucial input for program-related decisions and advocate for customer interests within Cummins.

Quality Assurance : Ensuring products are correctly applied and installed, you’ll validate prototype machine performance and ensure installations meet Cummins’ standards.

Innovation and Optimization : Utilizing tools like Analysis Led Design (ALD) and Six Sigma, you’ll propose innovative, customer-focused initiatives to optimize product and system performance.

Leadership and Mentorship : Leading smaller projects and mentoring less experienced engineers, you’ll drive the development and improvement of work processes and systems, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
Your role is pivotal in bridging the gap between customer needs and product development, ensuring high performance and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
QUALIFICATIONS

Provide technical support for complex service-related issues.

Serve as technical support on complex and hard to diagnose warranty and non-warranty repair events.

Formulate and direct complex repair plans.

Document the results of diagnostic and repair actions in the appropriate database clearly and concisely.

Manage the escalation of more complex requests to the appropriate level of support.
-
Lead diagnostic support and escalation process improvement activities.
-
Maintain knowledge and technical understanding of current products and new products.
-
Promote Cummins Service capability and service programs to increase sales.
-
Distribute technical communications to the assisted region.
-
Investigate product issues at customer or dealer locations.
-
Mentor and coach technicians in the region to improve capability.

Develop commissioning plans and provide on-site commissioning leadership for large scale complex power generation paralleling and high voltage system projects

Review complex project specifications and technical information

Provide technical support to Technicians, Commissioning Engineers, and Sales Teams

Understand customer requirements and work to satisfy requirements

Engage appropriate organization resources to accomplish commissioning objectives and technical issues resolution.

Communication – organize and lead calls/meetings, effectively communicate verbally and via various technology-based means
Skill and Experience in the following areas are preferred:
-
Power generation field experience is crucial for the role (on-site field service, troubleshooting, switchgear design, power transmission or Utility field service work).

Familiar with engine-gensets repair or troubleshooting and has worked on generators, ATS or switchgear.
-
Familiar with electrical and mechanical drawings, capable of wiring electrical components and troubleshooting complex wiring circuits & electronic equipment. Hands-on, practical engineering experience, including the ability to interpret schematic diagrams and technical specification documents.

A candidate with an electrical background is preferred as this role involves working live with energized AC equipment, wiring components, and paralleling with the grid.

Paralleling Switchgear Systems troubleshooting experience is needed for this role

Experience working on CHP systems, heat balance, and overall CHP efficiency measurement.

Microgrid, EV charging equipment, and Battery storage experience would be preferred.
