Job Summary:

In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison with cross-functional Product Development Teams, providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input for new products and facilitating their transition to full production environments. You will design and implement efficient processes using lean manufacturing principles to enable single-piece flow in a pull system philosophy for both existing products and new product launches. Utilizing value stream mapping, you will identify and eliminate waste, evaluate potential workflow changes, and maximize production efficiencies. Leading cross-functional teams, you will implement 5S improvements, standard work, setup reduction, and problem-solving/rapid change Kaizen activities. You will establish and document production standards and controls, conduct initial time studies, and set labor standards for all products. Additionally, you will determine the appropriate methods, tools, and equipment required to produce products in compliance with QS9000/TS16949 operating standards and complete PFMEA analysis in a cross-functional environment. Collaborating with product development teams and management, you will provide input for make vs. buy decisions and contribute to Bills of Material and routing to maintain inventory control, financial controls, and customer quality standards. You will also establish initial calibration schedules for measuring and test equipment, maintain facility layouts consistent with kanban and pull system techniques, and establish procedures for the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous materials. Your role will involve providing and implementing continuous improvement ideas and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and employee involvement. Knowledge of or a desire to be involved with Six Sigma methodologies, with the ability to be trained at the green belt level minimum, is essential. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet functional needs and contribute to continuous improvement.

Process Documentation

  • Capable of producing written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence, ensuring they are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity and standardization in processes.

Tool and Fixture Design

  • Expertise in selecting work-piece-holding devices capable of effectively holding parts and products during manufacturing processes to secure their position and meet functional requirements.

Problem Solving

  • Solves problems and mentors others on effective problem-solving by using systematic analysis processes, leveraging industry-standard methodologies to create problem traceability, protect the customer, determine assignable causes, implement robust, data-based solutions, and ensure actions to prevent problem recurrence.

Workstation Design

  • Designs operator workstations that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic while accounting for cost, quality, and delivery to contribute to an efficient work environment. Education, Licenses, Certifications: College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience: Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
