This entry level role will be reporting to the HVDC Service Operations Manager, and you will be responsible for supporting existing and future HVDC service customers.
Duties will include supporting all aspects of LTSA’s contracts for new and existing client sites. You will work closely with the HVDC Service Teams around the country and our support partners to provide support. This support may require some flexible availability 24/7 to support our on-call engineers. Flexible working hours will also be required for significant maintenance tasks and on an impromptu basis as required.
Contribute to improving Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance in the organization to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment.
There will also be the chance to support the HVDC service team with the option of being put onto the relevant call out rotas once the required standards have been met. The right candidate must have a willingness to learn, and in doing so Hitachi will support this individual with training to successfully fulfil their role.
Responsibilities:
To assist the current service engineering teams across IE and UK HVDC Links.
The principal objectives of this varied role are as follows:
- Deliver exceptionally high availability to all customers.
- Maintain the value and maximize the design life of the systems.
- Maintain strong relationships with our valued customers.
- Support the HVDC Service engineering teams in the UK & Ireland.
- Where applicable work as part of the EPC commissioning team to gain experience of the system at new stations.
- Complete work orders as requested along with filling out the relevant work report.
- Perform minor civil remedial repairs as requested.
- Assisting service engineers where extra resource is required.
- Perform routine maintenance work at IFA2 up to 2 days per week minimum.
- Complete all other routine tasks within IE and UK as required.

Profile:
- Relevant trade qualifications in an engineering discipline.
- HV (>275kV) substation experience.
- Basic Maintenance / fault finding experience with items of High Voltage equipment.
- Basic Maintenance / fault finding experience with LV and mechanical systems.
- Experience supervising contractors and controlling work areas.
- Willingness to become authorized to a minimum of CP for multiple TSO organizations.
- Experience working with maintenance management systems.
- An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative.
- An ability to follow instructions to be able to extract data from our HMI / MACH systems.
- Willingness to support the team with adhoc standby cover.
- Experience in civil works.
- Ability and willingness to pass security background checks.
- Sound communication.
- Team building skills.
- MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Fluent written & spoken English.
- A good working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations along with a relevant qualification. E.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSCS
- Driving license.
