Our AI Assistant team within ArcGIS Enterprise is working to combine geospatial science and cloud technology to solve real world problems in GIS using ML/DL and generative AI technology. This AI capabilities must aid our customers in discovering their data; making sense of it; and producing valuable insights in a flexible, secure, scalable, and high performance manner.

As Software Engineer, you will be working alongside Online and Enterprise development teams, Product Engineers, and other AI Skill Developers to make sure that the AI capabilities can evolve and are maintained over time. As an engineer, you will write and validate your code via tests, perform code reviews for your team, and design and collaborate on the next generation of innovative GIS experience for your customers.

Responsibilities
  • Implement GIS functions that can be invoked by an AI agent using prompt engineering, feature engineering, function calling and fine-tuning
  • Find, analyze, and fix bugs/performance problems whenever and wherever they occur in the framework and AI services
  • Prototype, design, develop, and deliver complete software features and products that can scale, are fault tolerant, are secure and can handle concurrent workloads
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to understand requirements and incorporate them into the software
  • Contribute to building the test automation framework for the AI Assistant server
Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience in a similar software engineering environment
  • Proficiency in Python and Java
  • Experience working with large code bases
  • Experience with ML/DL/Gen AI models
  • Experience with cloud services (such as Azure, AWS, GCP, and more)
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, development, and debugging skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills
  • Bachelor's in math, computer science, physics, or related field
Recommended Qualifications
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Master’s in math, computer science, physics, or related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$75,712-$129,792 USD
