We’re seeking someone to join our team as a seasoned Instructure SRE to implement and maintain the next version of our large-scale performance optimized platform. The existing environment consists of a mixture of open source and in-house written Python components which will be modernized and replaced to ensure the continued delivery of a stable and secure infrastructure with increased agility and flexibility.

This is a Linux Engineer position at Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for overseeing the production environment, ensuring the operational reliability of deployed software, and implementing strategies to optimize performance and minimize downtime.

What you'll do in the role:
- Define and implement strategies to ensure high availability and performance of critical systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and deliver infrastructure projects.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency improvements.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and service providers.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans for infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of defining and measuring key performance indicators for infrastructure operations.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in infrastructure management
- Knowledge of vendor management and contract negotiations.
- We are looking for an Infrastructure SRE with Python development experience.
- You will have experience of managing, deploying to and debugging large scale production environments.
- You will be able to write secure, testable, robust code and can prioritize work accordingly.
- You have excellent time management skills.
- You will be responsible for on-call responsibilities shared with a global team.
- You will be joining a global team of highly accomplished engineers, developers, and operations specialists.
- You will contribute and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
- You will have experience with Change Management and Problem management practices.
- You will be expected to collaborate with a global team to accomplish deliverables.
- You will be responsible to participate in open forums with your global team to discuss projects.
- You will be expected to act like an owner.
- At least 5 years of Enterprise Level Experience or equivalent in Large Distributed Environment
- Knowledge of Linux Systems - Hardware and Automated Build /Automated Lights Out Management
- Ability to build systems from scratch, changing configuration and amending code-paths and debugging core-dumps.
- Strong understanding of Linux Kernel internals performance tuning in a low latency plant
- Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP, Experience with networking and security concepts, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools and solutions.
- Familiarity with MIT Kerberos application within enterprise Linux environments (nice to have)
- Kernel-Bypass and why (nice to have)
