Responsibilities:
American Express Banking Corp. (“AEBC”) India is a banking entity regulated by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) which carries out the India Card (credit cards, gift cards, prepaid cards, forex cards) and Travelers Cheques distribution business.
This position will be part of 20 member AEBC India Controllership team, which will require dotted line reporting in a matrix’s environment & Job profile and mix will continue to change in order to develop the individual according to external developments, interest / demonstrated capability of individual, departmental focus, projects etc.
This is a key position in American Express Banking Corp., India Controllership team, will report into Services Delivery Leader and assist with the following processes:
- Preparation and scrutiny of returns and statements filed with RBI in accordance with the RBI guidelines.
- Review daily and month end accounting entries ensuring compliance to relevant RBI reporting and India GAAP accounting rules.
- Preparation of inputs required for various purposes including RBI inspection and Statutory Audit.
- Perform regular reviews and deep dive analysis of the legal entity P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Variance analysis and business commentaries for the AEBC Committees and Senior Management.
- Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly submissions to External & Regulatory Reporting
- Keep abreast of the RBI notifications and regulatory developments taking place in form, procedure and method of reporting to RBI
- Ensuring and monitoring quality and change control over financial related processes including, regulatory reporting and compliance, credit reserves, new products, and intercompany transactions
- Interpreting critical accounting policies and resolution of accounting and reporting issues, providing accounting thought leadership

- Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and effectively manage in a matrix organization
Desired Qualification:
The qualification required is CA, CPA or MBA finance (Tier 1) with 2-3 years of relevant experience in the Financial Controllership(F&A)/Month-end Close profile.
Functional Skills/Capabilities:
- Must be proficient in MS Applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Results driven and ability to perform multiple tasks, work to strict deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Understanding of banking regulatory requirements & RBI guidelines would be preferred.
Technical Skills/Capabilities:
- A strong financial accounting / reporting background incl. IFRS / IGAAP / USGAAP
- An analytical bent of mind with a positive attitude is a must to survive in a dynamic enjoinment requiring high levels of collaborations.
Knowledge of Platforms:
- Strong knowledge of AMEX businesses, Finance and Reporting Systems would be a preferred.
