Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration:
  • Work on projects with multiple stakeholders across different regions, demonstrating effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • Analysis and Problem-Solving:
  • Investigate product and system issues related to thermal and fluid sciences. Recommend and implement solutions while documenting results.
  • Process Support:
  • Assist in improving processes such as Pre Program Planning (PPP), Value Package Introduction (VPI), and Engineering Standard Work (ESW). Utilize tools like GT-Power, Fluent, and Converge for analysis.
  • Technical Documentation:
  • Document findings and decisions based on technical analysis to facilitate knowledge transfer and improve project outcomes.
  • Continuous Learning:
  • Engage in self-development and seek new challenges to grow in the field of combustion and emissions science.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Experience:

  • Entry-level candidates or early-career professionals with relevant internships, co-op experiences, or extracurricular projects in thermal and fluid sciences are encouraged to apply.

Competencies:

  • Combustion and Emissions Knowledge:
  • Understand and apply principles of combustion analysis and emissions science to enhance product performance.
  • Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer:
  • Utilize knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer to analyze and optimize system performance.
  • Thermodynamics Expertise:
  • Leverage thermodynamics principles in energy conversion systems, such as IC engines and gas turbines.
  • Product Problem Solving:
  • Apply systematic problem-solving techniques to address technical challenges and improve product reliability.
  • Systems Thinking:
  • Define and analyze system boundaries and interactions, aiding in the planning and execution of projects.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Develop and deliver clear communications tailored to diverse audiences, ensuring effective collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant STEM field is required. A Master’s degree may be preferred for specific roles.

Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Familiarity with CFD tools like Converge, Star-CCM+, and Ansys Fluent is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills:
  • Proficient in using statistical methods and technical data analysis to inform decisions.
  • Documentation:
  • Strong skills in technical writing and documentation for effective knowledge sharing.
  • Software Proficiency:
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred; experience with Cummins-specific tools (e.g., CDAT, Calterm) is a plus.
