Mechanical system Design Engineer
Job Details
DESCRIPTION
This entry-level/early-career role focuses on applying engineering principles to create optimized design concepts and specifications for mechanical systems. Key responsibilities include developing design solutions considering application requirements, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturability, and serviceability. The engineer will effectively communicate design capabilities to meet cross-functional requirements, assess alternative and competitive design concepts, and work across disciplines to fulfill corporate and customer requirements while resolving product issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate issues arising in Value Package Introduction (VPI) or field-based scenarios, identifying root causes, recommending actions, and resolving problems from a design perspective.
- Support processes such as Critical Design Decisions, System Design and Validation, Design Review, iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, and ANSYS Workbench to make informed design decisions and refine designs.
- Obtain input from and negotiate with technical experts to communicate design intent through thorough Design Review packages for teams involved in Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), or Value Package Change Request (VPCR).
- Assist in design decision-making processes, including concept selection, optimization, and specification definition, to meet customer needs.
- Lead problem resolution for moderately complex components, systems, or services, gaining increasing technical complexity and ambiguity with experience.
- Independently execute established processes, contributing to system and process improvement.
- May direct work amongst technicians or student employees, coordinating efforts to achieve team goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience :
- 3 to 6 years of relevant working experience preferred; entry-level/early-career candidates should have experience through internships, co-op programs, or similar early career roles in technical fields.
