DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Powertrain System Development & Validation: Lead the development and validation of PowerTruck powertrains and powertrain feature models, ensuring they meet both performance and customer requirements.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with the Customer Integration Platform team to deliver validated machine models for energy efficiency, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Architecture Selection & Optimization: Lead the selection of machine architectures for Engine Build Units (EBUs) and OEM customers, ensuring the selection balances CO2 reduction, machine performance, and total cost of ownership.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead the integration of CSAR (AUTOSAR) for PowerChoice platform tools, driving key technical decisions and ensuring product alignment with customer needs and environmental standards.
  • Simulation & Modeling: Use 1-D simulation tools (e.g., CyberApp, AMESim, Autonomie, GT Suite) to model and optimize powertrain systems, ensuring performance goals are met.
  • Product Application & Support: Serve as a technical liaison to OEMs, translating customer requirements into product specifications and ensuring proper system integration and installation. Provide ongoing support to resolve technical issues and improve product performance.
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to improve integration processes, installation quality, and product optimization. Apply Six Sigma and Analysis Led Design (ALD) tools to enhance system performance and deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions.
  • Customer Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer technical teams, guiding them in product selection and ensuring the correct installation and performance of Cummins products in their applications.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Lead problem-solving efforts related to machine integration and system performance, implementing robust, data-driven solutions to resolve product issues quickly and effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Experience:

  • Industry Experience: Minimum 8 years of industrial experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a master's degree in engineering, focused on powertrain systems, machine integration, and OEM applications.

Competencies:

  • Machine Integration and Optimization: Ability to integrate various powertrain subsystems into a fully optimized solution that meets performance, reliability, cost, and quality goals.
  • Product Application Support: Provide technical content and support for OEMs, managing installation requirements and assisting in product configuration to meet customer needs.
  • Product Function Modeling & Simulation: Utilize simulation tools and computational methods to predict and optimize product functionality at the system and component levels.
  • Product Installation Quality: Ensure that Cummins products are installed correctly, minimizing rework and ensuring compliance with installation standards.
  • Product Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to solve complex product problems, utilizing data analysis and troubleshooting techniques to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Customer Focus: Build strong relationships with customers, ensuring that their technical requirements are understood and addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Communication: Develop and deliver clear, concise communication that conveys technical information effectively to diverse audiences, both internal and external.
  • Resourcefulness: Efficiently deploy resources to resolve challenges, ensuring project goals are met within established timelines.
  • Drives Results: Consistently achieves desired outcomes through effective decision-making and problem-solving, even under challenging conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field required.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field may be preferred for select roles.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • This position may require compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations, necessitating relevant licensing.

Skills:

  • Powertrain Systems Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of on- and off-highway powertrain components, their operation principles, and energy/ performance optimization.
  • 1-D Simulation Tools: Strong proficiency with tools like CyberApp, AMESim, Autonomie, GT Suite, or similar software for powertrain system modeling and simulation.
  • MATLAB & Simulink Expertise: Proficient in using MATLAB scripts and Simulink for simulation and system design tasks.
  • AUTOSAR & CSAR Experience: Experience with AUTOSAR or CSAR integration for platform tools is preferred.
  • Field Data & Big Data Processing: Experience working with field data and processing large datasets to support product development and optimization efforts.
  • Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and drive complex projects from inception to completion, delivering results on time and within budget.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • This role may require occasional travel to customer sites, manufacturing plants, or other Cummins facilities.
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
