What is special about this role:
As the Chief Medical Officer you will lead the clinical strategy for the organization, enabling Helix and its partners across the various healthcare sectors to leverage real world- actionable insights to deliver improved diagnosis, treatment and outcomes. This position contributes to the company strategy by identifying new opportunities to increase Helix's clinical impact and to collaborate with product and commercial teams to drive action resulting in the achievement of near term and strategic company goals.
Responsibilities will include:
Team Management
- This role will lead the Clinical organization. This includes team members from Clinical Genomics, Medical Affairs, Research, and Quality -- all of which play a key role in the development of Helix’s products and services.
Medical Leadership
- Define and execute Helix strategy for evidence generation -- ensuring that novel data-driven insights support the commercial and company vision AND rapidly and reproducibly make their way into existing or new product offerings
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in computational and translational research so that our teams stay at the cutting edge.
Product/ Commercial Partnership
- Partner closely with commercial and product organizations with a focus on data-driven products that influence how Helix’s partners build and commercialize their products. This will include both the biopharma life cycle as well as clinical adoption.
- Communicates Helix’s POV effectively to partners, customers and external stakeholders, including executives, research scientists, medical directors, and lay media.
- Engages on a technical and business level with biopharma and provider partners on a diverse range of topics.
Executive Leadership
- An active and engaged member of the Senior Leadership Team
About you:
- Flexible leader who can operate strategically across multiple domains and yet is still hands-on and can perform execution oriented activities for the company.
- A collaborator who acts with humility, inclusiveness and open-mindedness.
- 10+ years of experience related to drug discovery and/or clinical development experience either directly within biopharma or in a technology / service organization serving this segment.
- 5+ years of experience with RWE and its uses for regulatory submissions and medical affairs
- MD, ideally with subspecialty training in one or more major areas of precision medicine development including Cardiology, Endocrine or Oncology; Pathology or Medical Genetics
- Research experience ideal (i.e. PhD/MPH or post-doctoral training).
- Excellent ability to reduce complexity for various audiences (regulatory, government, life sciences, provider)
- Ability to travel up to 25%

What To Expect During Your Onboarding Week:
We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.
What To Expect During Your First 90 days:
First 30 days: you’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers, our products, the impact we make in the lives of our communities, and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.
Day 30 - 60: you’ll spend time contributing to projects, deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes, and developing a deeper understanding of Helix’s products, services and capabilities.
Day 60 - 90: you’ll build your OKRs with your manager, start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team, and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.
