Department Profile

Global Banking Technology (GBT) is a dynamic and fast-paced area within the Firm’s WM Technology Division. We are responsible for creating innovative technology solutions for the Private Banking Group (PBG), one of the strategic growth areas of the Firm, providing cash management and lending products and services to our WM clients. This includes state-of-the-art technology for a nationwide network of Private Bankers and product specialists who work with Financial Advisors to provide access to products and services such as online banking, cards, deposit products, residential mortgages, securities-based loans and tailored lending. Position Description

The position will be responsible for the overall architecture and design of components for Data migration and processing using frameworks in Scala or Python for Big Data. The candidate should have experience in designing scalable solutions for large scale data processing on the Hadoop platform using Spark (Pythonor Scala ) , Hive and Kafka. He should have hands on experience on atleast one RDBMS (Teradata, DB2) and should be able to write complex database queries. He should have the know how to work in cloud environments preferably Azure.The Candidate must have worked in an Agile development environment with a great understanding of Agile methodologies.

To be successful, the role will require the individual to understand the banking technology landscape as well as be able to step into existing projects taking on a hands-on development role.

Responsibilities

Design stable, scalable application databases/datawarehouses.

Identify potential improvements to the current design/processes.

Plan and co-ordinate the data/process migration across databases.

Participate in multiple project discussions as a senior member of the team.

Required Skills

10+ years of total experience in designing multi-tier architecture applications and data centric solutions.

Strong experience in batch processing and scripting on UNIX/Linux environment.

In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with:

Java/Scala

Python

Hive

Kafka

Unix/Linux programming (shell and/or Perl).

RDBMS systems (e.g.:DB2, Teradata, Sybase, or Oracle).

Good understanding of data modeling concepts, data analysis, and database design.

Good communication and leadership skills.

Organization, discipline, detail-orientation, self-motivation, and focused on delivery.

Desired Skills

Experience in the Financial Industry.

Work experience building applications in the Hadoop eco system (e.g.: HDFS, Spark, Pig, Hive).
