Job Summary:
Assists with the plan, design, purchase, and implementation of machining processes and equipment in an industrial plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists in the determination of parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals such as setup reduction and changeovers according to product specification; works with engineering to identify problems with product and performance and recommends solutions or enhancements. Assists with the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Performs equipment engineering design evaluations and documents results; may recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Works to improve equipment availability and capability by utilizing continuous improvement tools and working cross functionally.

Machine Programming - Creates factory floor machine programs by designing and implementing solutions to improve usage of machine and overall operation.
Material Removal Tooling and Processes - Selects the tools needed to complete a material removal process that meets the product requirements at the lowest total costs to provide products that meet the customer needs.
Measurement Process Design - Applying knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles and knowledge of measurement technology (standards, techniques, equipment, etc) to design a measurement system that can consistently meet industry and customer requirements.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Basic level of relevant work experience required.

Job Summary
The Camshafts Operations Manager will be responsible for end-to-end manufacturing operations for camshafts used in QSK, KV, NT, and ISX engine platforms. This includes oversight of daily production, equipment management, quality assurance, automation systems, and workforce development . The role demands strong leadership to ensure safety, quality, delivery, cost optimization, and continuous improvement in a high-precision machining environment involving processes such as cam milling, grinding, induction hardening, straightening, superfinishing, inspection, and packaging .
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Plan, execute, and monitor daily production schedules to meet delivery, quality, and cost targets.
- Optimize manpower allocation across automated, semi-automated, and manual operations.
- Ensure smooth coordination between planning, maintenance, quality, and manufacturing engineering teams.
- Maintain production flow for multiple camshaft variants across multiple engine platforms.
Equipment & Process Oversight
- Manage and monitor performance of key equipment, including:
- Cam Milling Machines
- Journal & Cam Lobe Grinding Machines
- Induction Hardening Systems
- BHN Testing, Crack Detection, and Superfinishing Machines
- Washing, Laser Marking, and Final Inspection Systems
- Coordinate preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure maximum uptime.
- Oversee machine trials, commissioning, and integration of new processes and equipment.
Automation & Technology
- Manage robotic, gantry, and pneumatic-assisted handling systems for process stability.
- Drive Industry 4.0, IIoT, and digital manufacturing initiatives to enhance equipment performance and process visibility.
- Lead implementation of CMS (Cummins Manufacturing System) standards in production.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure products meet Cummins and customer-specific quality standards.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for non-conformances.
- Maintain compliance with HSE and environmental regulations.
- Oversee process capability reviews, VPCR trials, and ergonomic compliance.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and technicians.
- Conduct performance reviews, skill assessments, and targeted training programs.
- Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous learning.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve OEE, reduce cycle time, minimize scrap/rework, and optimize manpower.
- Deploy lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, TPM, SMED, and Six Sigma.
- Implement ergonomic improvements and risk reduction strategies on the shop floor.
- Support CAPEX planning, cash flow tracking, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in precision machining operations, preferably in camshaft or powertrain components.
- Strong knowledge of grinding, milling, hardening, and inspection processes.
- Hands-on experience with automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 tools.
- Proven track record of managing high-volume machining operations.
- Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., BOM, DQR, VPCR, ER) and digital manufacturing tools.
