Senior IT Systems Administrator
Located in the heart of downtown Calgary, AB and reporting to the I.T. Manager, you are a customer-focused Senior IT Systems Administrator who will be responsible for incident management and response, service requests, maintenance, and projects relevant to supporting Shareworks by Morgan Stanleys enterprise datacentre infrastructure. You will support and actively monitor 2 Data Centre locations and as well as having primary responsibilities to resolve internal consumer incidents, execute requests, and conduct maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting. You will perform server and network administration activities and handle escalations from the (L1, L2 and L3) service desk and other teams within the enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
> Ensure the reliable, efficient operation of production datacentre infrastructure & services with 24x7x365 uptime requirement.
> Monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining datacentre infrastructure.
> Network strategic design, discovery and documentation, including logical and physical diagrams
> Ability to work under minimal supervision, self-directed
> Demonstrated ability to influence and lead others, train and mentor less-experienced engineers
> Continually seeking opportunities to increase internal client satisfaction and deepen client relationships
> Perform daily maintenance and monitoring of Local Area Networks (LAN) / Wide Area Network (WAN) services per established procedures.
> Partner with development and web operations teams to meet organizational goals, identify solutions to problems and proactively seek improvements in reliability and the performance of systems
> Identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency and responsiveness, make recommendations and assist with implementing efficiencies
> Lead teams implementing large scale IT initiatives.
> Enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy, planning, and implementation experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
> BSc in Computer Science or related Engineering field is preferred.
> 15+ years of increasingly responsible IT Infrastructure administration in datacentre/SaaS architectures within a DevOps/Agile framework.
> A strong background in enterprise class network administration with experience in Juniper, Cisco and Palo Alto routing and switching technologies.
> 10+ years of hands-on experience administering datacentre infrastructure and complex cross-functional and cross- organizational projects for mid to large-scale technology companies.
> Experience recommending new enterprise class technologies and processes that will improve overall customer service, reduce operating costs and/or provide a competitive advantage.
> In-depth and highly technical understanding of and administration experience for all major functional areas of IT (networking, compute and storage)
> 15+ years of Linux Systems Administration (Red Hat)
> 10+ years of Oracle Database Administration.
> 10+ years of experience with VMware Virtualization technologies (vSphere, Operations Manager, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, etc)
> 10+ years of Firewall and VPN design and implementation (eg: Juniper SRX)
> 10+ years of data storage solutions administration
> 5+ years of Enterprise Security/ Information Security Administration and Management (Cyber Defense, Penetration Testing, Digital Forensic and Incident Response, etc)
> Knowledge of Infrastructure and Datacentre monitoring software (PRTG, Sensu etc)
> Microsoft Windows Server Administration (Windows Server 2008/2012/2016)
> Collaboration services such as Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft CRM* IPS/ IDS
> Backup, Deduplication and Replication Technologies (Quantum, EMC Datadomain)
> Experience with VLANs, VTP, and network protocols ' particularly EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF.
> Experience with RAID solutions, 3rd party file systems, experience designing distributed file system architectures (NFS, AFS, DFS, etc).
> Experience with IBM SAN Storage environments, experience with IBM System X, and or Lenovo Flex System Enterprise Chassis environments.
> Knowledge of fiber-channel storage arrays, hosts, switches, software, and storage networking infrastructure.
> Application and process automation experience utilizing Ansible to automate common functions.
