Position Overview
Do you thrive in an environment where you can design and build systems that directly shape how teams work every day? Every year Autodesk hires talented engineers to join our global teams and benefit from unlimited access to our technology and industry mentors. If this sounds like you… let’s talk.
We are expanding our support team for the Work Management Platform team, part of the Enterprise Systems & Experience (ESE) organization, to enhance the company’s IT systems, applications, and processes. Our engineering culture will empower you to make effective decisions, work collaboratively, and take accountability for engineering projects at the core of the company. The team is looking for an experienced Senior Airtable Developer and Builder to design, build, and evolve Airtable-based applications and workflows that support complex, cross-functional business operations at scale.
Autodesk is seeking a Senior Airtable Developer and Builder to join their Enterprise Systems & Experience (ESE) organization's Work Management Platform team. This role will lead the design, development, and evolution of Airtable-based applications and workflows that support complex, cross-functional business operations at enterprise scale. The ideal candidate will architect robust Airtable solutions including data models, automations, interfaces, and integrations with third-party systems like Jira, Confluence, and Power BI. Beyond technical development, this position serves as a subject matter expert who administers workspaces, ensures security and governance compliance, and enables teams through training and documentation. The role requires 4-6+ years of Airtable experience in an enterprise environment, along with Airtable Admin, Builder, and AI App Builder certifications. This is an opportunity to shape how teams work across Autodesk by building scalable, low-code solutions that reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Airtable Solution Design, Development & Architecture:
Lead the design and implementation of robust Airtable solutions spanning multiple teams and business processes
Define data models, schema, and relationships (linked records, lookups, rollups, junction tables) for performance, maintainability, and reporting
Design and build advanced Airtable Interfaces and forms that provide intuitive user experiences for contributors, approvers, and leadership stakeholders
Translate ambiguous or high-level business requirements into structured Airtable applications and documented technical designs
Establish and enforce patterns for dev/test/prod environments, release management, and change control for Airtable-based solutions
Workflow Engineering, Automation & Optimization:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to design and optimize end-to-end workflows using Airtable, automations, and connected tools
Build advanced Airtable Automations (multi-step workflows, conditional logic, scheduled processes) to reduce manual work and improve data quality
Leverage scripting (e.g., JavaScript) and Airtable’s scripting/automation capabilities to implement custom logic, validations, and orchestration
Identify and deliver opportunities for standardization, reusable templates, and solution “building blocks” that can be applied across teams
Continuously refine solutions based on feedback, metrics, and evolving business needs
Integrations Engineering & Data Flow:
Design, implement, and maintain integrations between Airtable and third-party systems (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Productboard, Power BI, Microsoft 365, and internal platforms)
Use APIs, integration platforms (e.g., Power Automate, n8n, or internal tools), and scripting to create reliable, observable data flows
Proactively monitor integrations for health, performance, and data consistency; investigate and resolve failures and anomalies
Document integration patterns, error-handling approaches, and recovery processes to enable repeatable, resilient implementations
Partner with security, data, and platform teams to ensure integrations comply with data governance, privacy, and access control standards
Platform Administration, Security & Governance:
Administer complex Airtable workspaces and environments: manage user access, roles, and workspace structure in alignment with organizational policies
Implement and manage SSO integrations and role-based access controls; support periodic access and security reviews
Define and document best practices, policies, and standards for Airtable usage across ESE and partner teams
Partner with security, privacy, and governance functions to ensure Airtable solutions adhere to data classification, retention, and compliance requirements
End-User Support, Enablement & Evangelism:
Serve as an L3 subject matter expert for Airtable: handle complex issues that junior admins and support staff escalate
Provide guidance to junior Airtable admins/builders on patterns, standards, and best practices
Develop and deliver training materials, documentation, and best-practice guides for internal teams and power users
Conduct office hours, workshops, and demos to help teams understand what’s possible and how to use Airtable solutions effectively
Monitoring, Optimization & Reporting:
Analyze performance and usage of Airtable solutions (record volume, automation runs, interface usage, integration throughput) and optimize where needed
Develop dashboards and reporting (often using Airtable + Power BI or similar) to provide visibility into adoption, workflow performance, and business outcomes
Support license management and workspace hygiene by identifying underused workspaces, redundant solutions, and opportunities for consolidation
Documentation, SOPs & Agile Ways of Working:
Maintain excellent documentation for active work: keep epics, user stories, and tasks up to date so status is always clear and ready for planning and reporting
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, admin SOPs, and design records for Airtable solutions and integrations
Participate in agile team rituals (standups, planning, refinement, retrospectives) and model strong hygiene around story updates, acceptance criteria, and work breakdown
Help define and evolve the overall Airtable development lifecycle, including standards for documentation, testing, and deployment
Minimum Qualifications
4–6+ years of experience building and administering Airtable (or similar low-code platforms) in an enterprise environment
Proven experience designing Airtable bases, relationships, and interfaces for complex, multi-team workflows
Hands-on experience implementing Airtable automations and scripts to support non-trivial business logic and process flows
Demonstrated experience integrating Airtable with other enterprise tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Jira, Confluence, HRIS, Productboard, BI tools) using APIs or integration platforms
Experience leading end-to-end delivery of Airtable-based solutions: requirements, design, build, test, rollout, and ongoing optimization
Strong background in end-user support, training, and documentation for business-facing systems
Familiarity with security and compliance standards, including data governance and access control measures in a corporate environment
Experience working in agile and/or ITSM-based environments (backlogs, sprints, incident/request handling)
Preferred Qualifications
Must have Airtable Admin, Builder, and AI App Builder certifications from Airtable
Experience with data migration projects involving platforms like Smartsheet, Trello, or legacy PM tools
Hands-on experience with integration/automation tools such as Power Automate, n8n, or similar
Experience with additional collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, or Google Workspace
Understanding of ITSM principles and methodologies (e.g., ITIL) and how they apply to collaboration tools and low-code platforms
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
The Ideal Candidate
Deep expertise in designing and building Airtable applications, with a strong focus on data modeling, Interfaces, forms, and automations
Strong ability to analyze and optimize workflows and business processes, not just implement requested changes
Proficient in Airtable automation and scripting; comfortable writing and maintaining JavaScript for custom logic and integrations
Strong ability to work with stakeholders at different levels: requirements discovery, solution design, demos, and iterative refinement
Excellent troubleshooting skills with a proactive mindset; able to investigate complex cross-system issues and drive them to resolution
Clear, concise communicator who can explain technical topics to non-technical audiences in both written and verbal formats.
Organized and detail-oriented; keeps solutions traceable, documented, and supportable, and sets a strong example for junior team members
Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-geo environment; able to coordinate with multiple teams and manage dependencies
Deals well with ambiguity; can structure undefined problems and propose pragmatic, scalable solutions
