DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer - Senior to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins business in Rocky Mount, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead Manufacturing Projects with Purpose You'll drive specific projects that align safety, product specifications, and business goals—ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, compliant, and customer-focused.
  • Apply and Advance Manufacturing Expertise By leveraging your deep knowledge of manufacturing principles, you'll improve equipment and processes, contributing to higher productivity and product quality.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement Using tools like Lean and Six Sigma, you'll lead efforts to refine standards and working methods, helping the organization reduce waste and optimize performance.
  • Influence Key Stakeholders Your leadership in communication will help align external partners, business leaders, and cross-functional teams around shared goals and manufacturing strategies.
  • Collaborate Across Boundaries Working with internal and external resources, you'll ensure project success through effective coordination, problem-solving, and execution.
  • Set and Elevate Manufacturing Standards You'll lead the development and implementation of best practices, ensuring consistency, safety, and excellence across manufacturing operations.
  • Coach and Build Relationships By maintaining strong relationships and mentoring stakeholders, you'll foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Drive Strategic Manufacturing Vision Your role supports the broader strategy of the manufacturing organization, helping translate vision into actionable improvements that deliver long-term value.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Collaborative Communication and Influence Building strong partnerships and communicating effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders will help align goals, drive decisions, and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Technical Mastery in Manufacturing Processes Success requires interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate equipment, and applying manufacturing knowledge to design safe, ergonomic, and efficient workstations and processes.
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Ergonomics Championing proactive safety behaviors and applying ergonomic design principles will help create a safe, injury-free workplace and foster a culture of well-being.
  • Continuous Improvement and Digital Innovation Leveraging digital tools for simulation and analysis, applying process improvement methodologies, and embracing Quality 4.0 technologies will enable data-driven decisions and long-term operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.

Additional Details:

  • Lead projects to implement line changes for new products
  • Coordinate supplier equipment integration
  • Lead line changes for tooling, process, and equipment changes for new products
  • Support the line during project execution for infant care support

Compensation

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
