Profile Description
We’re seeking someone to join our WM Technology team as a Observability Engineer, in Core Platform Services to design, development, delivery, and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office.

Software Production Management & Reliability Engineering
This is Associate position that oversees the production environment, ensuring the operational reliability of deployed software, and implements strategies to optimize performance and minimize downtime.

What you’ll do in the role:
• Deploy, configure, and maintain modern observability tools such as **Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Cortex, and Grafana**.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and automated reporting to provide actionable insights to engineering and operations teams.
• Integrate observability platforms with Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud-based infrastructures for seamless monitoring.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and SRE teams to establish best practices for logging, tracing, and metrics collection.
• Write scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) to automate routine monitoring and data collection tasks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to monitoring, metrics, logging, and tracing pipelines.
• Stay current with observability trends and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
What you’ll bring to the role:
• 2+ years of experience in Observability or DevOps engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with observability/monitoring tools including Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes (K8s) architecture and operational practices.
• Proficiency with at least one scripting language (Bash, Shell, etc.).
• Working knowledge of Python (optional but preferred).
• Experience in managing and visualizing metrics, logs, and traces from distributed applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation. • At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
