According to Slack’s Director of Equality, Hady Méndez, proximity bias can be problematic for many, if left unaddressed. When remote workers are unintentionally excluded from conversations, decisions, insights, and relationships, it's up to companies, managers, and employees to set up guardrails and guidelines to help create more balance and equity.

Hady Méndez is Director of Equality at Slack where she is responsible for shaping and advancing Slack’s near and long-term focus on inclusion and belonging, while simultaneously supporting Slack’s work of attracting, growing, and retaining underrepresented talent at all levels.
With a diverse career spanning over 25 years, Hady has held multiple customer-facing roles in high tech and financial services, served as a leader across various Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), volunteered as an international champion for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women, and served as Community School Director at an elementary school in the South Bronx.
