Help is on the way! Have you been considering a career in tech but aren’t sure how to make the move? With so many different avenues to explore and ways to break in, it can be confusing — especially if you’re coming from a non-traditional background. Help is on the way! Lorena Quinones-Torres, Software Engineering Manager at UKG, didn’t start in tech and certainly never imagined herself working at a software company. Education degree in hand, Lorena began a career at what she thought would be her dream job, only to discover she felt unfulfilled. On a whim, Lorena accepted a call center job at UKG and that decision changed the course of her career. She was able to leverage her customer service experience and soft skills to eventually transition into an engineering role while learning new things daily and savoring the adventure. For Lorena, taking a chance paid off — and it might for you, too. During this chat, you’ll learn: Life’s too short to be something you’re not. So let us help you honor your authentic self. Lorena Quinones-Torres is a Manager of Software Engineering at UKG with over 6 years of Human Capital Management software experience. She started her journey at UKG in the payroll support center and worked her way to product management and engineering leadership. Her experience working directly with UKG's customers drives how she approaches the relationships between the teams she leads and her product and business counterparts to create a team that truly focuses on the customer experience.
