Meet The Speakers
Amy is a software engineer at Yelp who recently joined Yelp’s Analytics Engineering team.
She began at Yelp nearly three years ago as a data science analyst within the Data Science team, helping the restaurants org better understand the Guest Manager product.
Prior to joining Yelp, she studied at Concordia University where she earned a bachelor's degree in statistics. Amy is based in Montreal, where she is a prolific walker, apartment gardener and cook.
Oriana is a software engineer and tech lead of the MultiLoc Intelligence team at Yelp. She joined Yelp almost three years ago. She is one of the leads of Yelp’s Awesome Women in Engineering’s (AWE) Newsletter program. Oriana earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science at the Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas and completed a master’s in informatics at the Technical University of Munich. Oriana is based in Munich, she is an avid reader, loves to cook, and plays the ukulele.
Soorya is an engineering manager for the Core Data Platform Team at Yelp. She’s been with Yelp for six years. She led Yelp’s Awesome Women in Engineering’s (AWE) Reads program for three years and is now the Safe Spaces Vertical Lead. Prior to Yelp, Soorya was an assistant professor for computer applications master’s program at the University of Mumbai. Because of her background in academics, Soorya is passionate about continuous improvement for her and her team.
