Learn more about our award-winning organization by visiting stryker.com As the Lead Data Engineer, you will drive tactical execution and delivery of projects within the data engineering project portfolio for the Endoscopy division. - Lead end-to-end data engineering projects from requirement definition to architecture validation and deployment.
- Develop the data infrastructure that procures, transforms, and structures data from multiple systems into a format that can be easily used by downstream users.
- Develop, oversee, and maintain the required databases and servers and lead the process to develop data models to be utilized by the commercial business.
- Support/manage the implementation, organization, and administration of the various data platforms (e.g. Azure, Power BI, etc).
- Support/manage the data model refresh schedules for the various data systems to balance the needs of the business while maintaining optimal system performance.
- Contribute to evaluating financial impacts for existing projects and new opportunities.
- Lead discussions with Stryker enterprise functions to leverage domain expertise and capabilities, as well as with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities where data engineering concepts can be applied to real-world business opportunities.
- Investigate and implement new data engineering infrastructure to support the needs of the business.
- Provide helpful insights in discussions on identifying opportunities in data architecture and movement to enable business opportunities with key stakeholders.
- Build requirements gathering documentation, needs assessments, development/maintenance of technical documentation for key systems and data assets, and translate customer/business requirements into technical requirements with some guidance.
- Bachelor’s degree OR 6+ years of applicable data engineering & architecture work experience required in lieu of degree. Degrees in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related engineering/technical field preferred.
- Masters degree preferred.
- 4+ years of work experience required.
- Experience leading end-to-end data engineering projects (e.g. from problem and requirements definition to architecture validation and deployment) required.
- Experience in object-oriented programming and data structures required.
- Skills in at least one programming language central to Data Engineering (e.g. SQL, Python, etc.) required.
- Experience in ETL/ELT, pipeline creation, orchestration, & data store/warehouse/systems architecture required.
- Experience in cloud-based native tools such as data storage, distributed computing, business intelligence, and infrastructure as code (Power BI, Apache Spark, Azure, GCP, AWS, etc.) required.
- Experience utilizing business intelligence platforms (e.g. Power BI) to develop data models & data infrastructure for business users required.
- Familiarity with programming languages central to data analytics (e.g. SQL, Python, R, DAX, M) required.
- Familiarity with DataOps, DevOps, and/or SecOps preferred.
- Proficiency in data security & data privacy best practices preferred.
- Proficiency in utilizing Agile/DevOps for versioning control preferred.
- Experience with project management tools & framework (e.g. scrum and agile frameworks) preferred.
