The Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) team is part of the American Express Data Office, our global data center of excellence responsible for realizing the potential of our data. EDG provides the principles, policies, processes, architecture, and governance to enable consistent, trusted, and usable data to drive accurate data-driven business outcomes. Responsibilities The Manager of Enterprise Data Governance Quality Assurance will be responsible for assessing and validating our Data Activation program to challenge the effectiveness and consistency of program execution and processes. The Manager will be responsible for:
- Executing the effective challenge of data risk management throughout the Data Activation program.
- Developing and maintaining processes, documentation, and test cases to perform effective challenge and quality assurance
- Managing sampling methodology, process and controls review to identify control gaps and improvement opportunities
- Executing tests and reporting results, issue logging, and ensuring resolution of findings
- Reporting on adequacy of Data Activation implementation to drive consistency of data risk management throughout the Federated Data Offices.
- Collaborating across EDG and other teams to support compliance with Data Governance, Data Management, and other policies.
- 5+ years of data governance, risk management, or audit experience, preferably within a regulated banking institution
- Solid grasp of control testing; must be able to design, document and assess control tests using a risk-based perspective
- Experience with creating/executing quality assurance methodology
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to take complex technical information and translate it into clear communications (presentations/memos) for a variety of audiences
- Ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment often with significant ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and encourage partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent professional certification in data risk management, internal audit, operational risk, etc. preferred.
