The role:
The role will work in partnership with the business ensuring delivery of the People Agenda and managing key people's operational activity. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to roll up their sleeves and “problem-solve” anything that comes their way. Based on the needs of our team and clients, we are constantly evolving how we work and who we work with. Working as a team you will be a part of creating and building communities and maintaining effective relationships.
The People Director, France is responsible for supporting the development, delivery, and execution of people strategies and initiatives across the French business. They will also assist in ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements required in the French business.
This person will have frontline access to leaders to guide, partner, and support them with a scope of work that includes but is not limited to employee relations, talent strategy, performance management, career pathing, internal mobility, change management, Diversity & Inclusion, People Operations, and Compensation & Benefits.
The People Director, France is a key member of the Global People Team and of the CN France Leadership Team and will be a modern HR generalist and Change Agent with broad experience in all relevant HR topics including labor law and HR development. S/he has already gained profound experience in successfully leading digital transformation and restructuring projects supporting companies to shift from a traditional model towards becoming agile and digitally savvy businesses. The new incumbent will collaborate with the team in France and Global HR teams to have in place a new People Strategy that is aligned with the changing business needs.

Dotted lines: Global BPs and CoEs, People
Working closely with the Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director, of Europe.
Direct reports: French People Team consisting of 3 members.
Other key relationships
Region/market Leadership Team and Business leaders, labor unions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Implementing the Global/European HR strategy for the subsidiary.
Acting as a senior member of the management team and actively participating in the Leadership Team Committee.
Play an active role in restructuring the subsidiary and transitioning to digitalization of businesses.
Participate, where needed, in the global HR teams’ efforts to centralize the reward and talent acquisition & management functions.
Demonstrably breaking down resistance to change.
Lead an effective and respected HR team that is business-focused, responsive, helpful, and anticipatory.
Build and maintain relationships with the recognized Trade Unions.
Recruit, select, and develop individuals and teams to enhance overall performance and delegate tasks to develop and motivate staff whilst retaining ownership.
Optimize talent planning and management, while promoting diversity and inclusion.
Ensure that business changes/transformations are managed in a way that achieves business outcomes and treats colleagues well.
Support and implement the European projects and define some local projects if necessary.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Human Resources Director, in France
HR generalist with a successful track record in business partnering, labor relations management, talent management (recruitment, development, and employer branding), communication, organizational development, performance management, compensation & benefits among other topics.
Led digital transformation and/or complex restructuring projects.
Can handle challenging projects through strong stakeholder management and by serving as a Trusted Advisor to Business Leaders and employees on People matters.
Ideally comes from a sector that has witnessed digital transformation like Media, FMCG, luxury, and retail.
Deep expertise in French labor regulations and solid experience working and building relationships with recognized Unions leading to positive outcomes.
Academic background in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Business degree.
Fluent in English and French. Prior experience at the international level, within a matrix multinational company will be a plus.
