The Lewin Group seeks a cancer epidemiologist or health economist with expertise in oncology to conduct rigorous empirical research on the most current policy issues surrounding healthcare reform. - Support evaluations of value-based care models that require advanced empirical methods or mixed quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods
- Design and conduct complex statistical analyses, including the development of analytic plans
- Supervise research staff, ensuring tasks are conducted with sound analytic methods
- Effectively produce client-ready deliverables
- Write and review sections of research reports, interpret and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide expertise on cancer care and oncology research, including supporting staff in developing complex analytic files
- Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Public Health, Public Policy, Epidemiology, Biostatistics -or- Master’s degree in a related field with 5+ post graduate years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience designing and conducting advanced statistical analysis to support program evaluations
- 5+ years of experience managing and analyzing large datasets with complex structures and relationships
- 3+ years of experience working with healthcare claims and enrollment data and familiarity with healthcare data/payment concepts such as:
- Claims data structure and contents (e.g., claim-level vs. claim line level, revenue center codes, procedure codes, diagnosis-related groups)
- Solid knowledge of various health data sources (claims/Medicare, EHR, registries) and Medicare Part A, B and D data
- Claims processing concepts (e.g., final action, maturity)
- Inpatient vs. outpatient service settings
- Payment concepts such as allowed amount vs. paid amount, deductible/coinsurance
- 2+ years of experience in oncology research using secondary data sources such as healthcare claims and registry data
- SAS certification
- Experience with Medicare Part D data
- Demonstrated experience with business development
- Advanced understanding of Medicare payment policy
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to design and implement research projects focused on health equity
- Demonstrated writing and presentation skills (peer review publications, conference presentations)
