Position Summary
The Technical Artist serves as the Bridge between the Software and Art teams. They work with both sides to ensure that the artistic vision is realized in the final product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and implement:
Software Systems.
Art Assets.
Game Engine Assets.
Shaders and Real-time Visual Effects.
Work closely with Engineers and Artists to make sure product meets look-and-feel and performance requirements.
Identify, solve technical issues related to the art pipeline.
Provide artists with technical feedback to ensure the creation of optimised assets.
Document and evangelise best practices.
Create (or suggest) tools and scripts to optimise Unity workflow.
Profiling/Debugging game performance to identify areas that need optimisation.
Optimising Software and Art.
Staying up to date with industry advancements in Game Engines, Digital Content Creation Software, and Tools.
Training and/or Experience:
1-3 years Game Development Studio experience.
Familiar with versioning software i.e. Perforce (Preferred), CVS, Alien Brain or similar.
Experience creating motion graphics or animations (must have samples).
Experience working under tight deadlines.
Experience working with Game Engines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Software Engineering (C#).
Unity.
Tool development (C# and Python).
Knowledge of 2D and 3D graphics (Photoshop/After Effects and Blender, or equivalent).
Excellent organisational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of Shaders
Familiar with particle systems (Unity or equivalent).
Understanding of Tweening
Profiling and Optimisation (Art and Code)
Ability to translate reference art from Artists into real-time graphics.
Self-motivated and able to work on multiple projects with minimal direction.
Understanding of UI / UX principles across various platforms.
Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Related Field, or Equivalent Experience.
