As Raytheon UK’s Space business continues to grow, we offer considerable expertise in Space Situational Awareness (SSA), Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Surveillance & Tracking (SST), Policy, Risk Management, Orbital Analytics, and Operations. The role This leadership role will be responsible for directing a multi-disciplined, company-wide team to capture and execute delivery of the Space portfolio of products. Together the team delivers a varied range of programmes across the Space business, related to Space Domain Awareness, Space Surveillance & Tracking and ISR. With planned growth in revenue across 2024/25, this role contributes to the P&L of the newly formed Space and ISR Mission Area. We have ambitious plans to grow into new international markets over our long-range plan. The Senior Programme Manager must be able to work at appropriate levels within Raytheon UK, partner companies and the customer organisation by engaging with key stakeholders and identifying and addressing their collective needs. An innovative and commercially aware approach will be critical to delivering success. Work location can be flexible, but there will be a focus on Raytheon’s facilities in Sedgefield, Reading and Gloucester so some travel required. This role reports to the Head of Space & ISR and we are keen to support someone who would like to be part of our long-term succession plans. Main Duties: This is a complex and challenging role that is both highly rewarding and high profile, with extensive communication and interfacing with our, internal and external customers and partner organisations. It demands excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of energy and stamina. The role holder shall be required to:
- Champion the use of our continuous improvement methodology in developing and maintaining an inclusive, agile and innovation led culture in Raytheon UK’s Space Sub Mission Area.
- P&L responsibility for the Space Sub Mission Area including planning and delivering investments and other business ventures and synergies.
- Contribute towards the development and execution of Raytheon UK’s Space Sub Mission Area strategy.
- Lead, enthuse and motivate the Space Sub Mission Area team and implement business plans, growing to agreed targets and commitments.
- Deliver Space Sub Mission Area programmes within agreed budgets using Earned Value and other KPI techniques, delivering each contracted milestone to agreed performance, cost and schedule commitments.
- Facilitate complex problem-solving initiatives with technical competence and the ability to think through strategic solutions from the customers’, company’s and partners’ perspectives.
- Work as a key and active member of the Mission Area team, collaborating across the Missions and Functions to achieve overall business goals and objectives and contributing to both short and long-term business planning and forecasting.
- Experience of working in or with relevant space domains.
- A capable leader and influencer, able to effect change through the matrix organisation.
- Supportive, with the character to anticipate and navigate sensitive and pressurised situations to overcome delivery challenges.
- Able to engage with technical experts with credibility and understanding.
- Drive to create change and continuously improve performance demonstrating creativity and openness to innovation in order to solve complex problems.
- An able communicator in verbal, written and presentational forms including at senior levels and especially to the customer.
- Energy and Drive - willing to travel within the UK and internationally.
- Experience in delivering complex technical projects for Government type Customers.

- Proven ability as a team player who works well with others and build lasting, constructive relationships both with the customer and inside the business.
- A high degree of personal resilience is required.
- Candidates must be eligible for, or currently hold DV clearance.
- Background in Space Domain Awareness and/or Space-based Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR)
- Degree in engineering or business management
- Good understanding of the customer (UK MoD, Foreign Governments and Military) and with experience in the Defence sector.
- Member of a relevant Engineering or Programme Management Professional Institution.
