Date Posted:2024-05-01 Country:United States of America Location:HFL05: Landing Gear - Miami 3201 NW 167th Street , Opa Locka, FL, 33056 USA Position Role Type:Onsite Collins Aerospace is looking for an individual Tool and Die Maker III for our Miami, FL Landing gear Facility, one of the most rapidly growing facilities across the company. Under minimal supervision, you will demonstrate your use of specialty skills & techniques for manufacturing tools and dies, this process includes planning, designing constructs, fabricating, modifying, or repairing tooling such as jigs, fixture, gages and dies. This position will be working in an Onsite capacity. This position is eligible for relocation 2nd Shift: Mon. - Fri. 2:30PM-11:00PM Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, set up and operate an assortment of manual machine tools such as manual mills, cylindrical grinders, surface grinders, ID grinders, OD grinders, manual tool room lathe, CNC lathes, and CNC machining centers.
- Constant awareness of work safety by following company guidelines and by coordination with EHS staff.
- Keep managers advised of shop machining operations and work order status.
- Report any discrepancies or machine tool malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Possess the ability to use standard and functional measuring instruments, indicators, tools, fixtures, and gages that are used for production.
- Dispose of scrap, chips, and waste using the appropriate equipment and established practices.
- Able to assist in training shop floor people when required.
- Participate in company training and process procedures for all pertinent manufacturing activities, ACE
- Assure consistent equipment maintenance, lubrication, cleanliness, calibrations by using TPM.
- Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Fits and assembles parts to make or repair machine tools.
- Lays out, measures, and marks metal stock to display placement of cuts.
- Maintains industrial machines and applies knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- HS diploma with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 4 years of relevant experience is required
- Able to do math conversions (fractions to decimals, geometry, trigonometry, metrics, and adding/subtracting)
- Ability to perform multiple mechanical function simultaneously utilizing hand/eye coordination.
- Able to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Ability to read and perform work utilizing blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform high level manual machining operations on lathes and mills
- Ability to setup work on CNC machine tools and to program, edit, download/upload programs
- Ability to use exact measuring devices (micrometers, Height gauges, vernier calipers
- Keep accurate up-to-date records as required for the machine tools, part numbers, tooling requirements, employee training requirements.
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.
- Trade school certification in machine shop technology or associate degree in mechanical technologies.
- Minimum five years on the job work experience including CNC training and CAD/CAM practice.
- Firm understanding of surface footage and feed rates as it applies to various machine tools.
- Experience with welding is a plus
- Ability to use basic Microsoft Office Suite products: excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
