Candidates who express an interest may be considered for future positions at Northrop Grumman.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer (Field Engineer) OR Senior Principal Electrical Engineer (Field Engineer) to support the Mission Systems IPT.The position is located in Sacramento, CA and will require up to 25% travel.Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Integrating and testing software/hardware systems in complex IT systems.
- Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with other engineers and technicians in a lab-like environment.
- Supporting a program where application of extensive technical expertise will be required to support a developing system.
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field with 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of related engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systems
- Demonstrated experience with VMware
- Security+ Certificate for administrators
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with an investigation or re-investigation within the last 6 years OR be enrolled in continuous evaluation.
- Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field with 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of related engineering experience.

- Ability to travel up to 25%

- Previous experience with existing system
- Ability to maintain system configurations
- Provide expert software, hardware, and system support to on-site end-users.
- Train end-users.
- Support the IPT with software defect resolution and enhancement efforts.
- Ability to develop and maintain Microsoft PowerShell scripts, Bash and Python scripts, and Microsoft Group Policies.
- Familiarity with the following:
- Storage systems and basic networking
- Solaris 10 and 11, Oracle OEM
- Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
- VMware ESXi, VMware vCenter
- Ability to do the following:
- Author and maintain technical installation, configuration, and update procedures
- Document and maintain system configurations
- Provide engineering technical support for peer teams
- Engineer and test new technical solutions in lab environments
- Design and implement VMware high-availability virtualized infrastructures
- Maintain COTS Hardware and Software configuration matrix
- Script deployments of Microsoft Windows Server and Workstation and Solaris 10 and 11 operating systems
- Automate installation of COTS software
- Engineer solutions to address new technical requirements and/or bug fixes
- Implement engineering changes to the system as required
- Maintain compatibility with existing architectures when implementing system enhancements
- Release CM controlled documentation, scripts, and COTS software media
