Location: HS Marston Aerospace Ltd - Wolverhampton Title: Special Process Engineer Labour grade: TBC Position summary: The expectation of the Special Process Engineer is to ensure compliance of vacuum brazed and heat treated product to customer and international standards. Reporting to the Special Process Manager, the Special Process Engineer will form part of the Quality team. The role will involve customer and other third party audit involvement, working the metallurgical laboratory to perform analysis and aid the development of new products and complete furnace equipment calibration and periodic tests to ensure furnace compliance to the requirements of AMS2750. Responsibilities:
- Technical support for vacuum brazing / heat treatment / hardness testing requirements
- Participate in RCCA investigations and support implementing robust corrective actions
- Support the Special Process Manager in completing internal audits and facilitating 2nd and 3rd Party audits (Nadcap)
- Ensure furnace pyrometry compliance to AMS2750
- Carry out and control furnace calibration and periodic tests (TUS, SAT etc.) along with creation of certification and reports.
- Review incoming supplier certification for conformance to customer and international standards.
- Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities to remove waste and improve efficiency.
- Create special process data cards, operation books, standards and SOPs and ensure they developed and maintained
- Metallurgical analysis to support vacuum braze certification
- Provide guidance and data driven feedback to operational areas to continuously improve the Heat Treatment and Vacuum Brazing processes
- Degree in an Engineering or science discipline preferred
- Previous experience of Vacuum Brazing, Heat Treatment Processes and Hardness testing
- Should have a good familiarity with expectations associated with aerospace or other comprehensive quality assurance systems, including ISO9000 or AS9100
- Proven background in compliance to AMS2750 including completion and control of calibration and periodic tests
- Nadcap audits and the steps needed to prepare for the audit
- Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to follow instruction
- Excels in teamwork, and is able to work confidently as an individual
- Extensive knowledge of the Aerospace Industry and can demonstrate expertise in Aerospace systems, products and procedures
- Previous metallurgical experience preferred but not essential
- Highly-motivated, flexible, responsive to change and calm under pressure
- Ability to support and lead technical discussions
- Excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to prepare technical information
- Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to follow instruction
- Works well in a team environment and has the ability to work across various departmental functions within the Company
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact verbally and in writing with customers, suppliers, colleagues and external contacts at all levels.
