Maintains health information in both paper files and electronic systems. Reviews charts for accurate information, processes release of information requests (ROI), and locates and delivers medical and dictation records. May mentor and train staff and help guide work for associate and intermediate staff. This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 333 North Smith Avenue St. Paul, MN 55102. We offer 2 - 3 weeks of paid training. The hours of training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment. Primary Responsibilities:
- Organizes and maintains health information records.
- Reviews electronic chart documentation ensuring correct patient, location, and no duplicate information.
- Processes release of information (ROI) requests.
- Manages requests for documentation and information.
- Scans and edits documents in the electronic medical record.
- Locates, logs, retrieves, files, and delivers medical records stored in various mediums and systems.
- Distributes reports and results.
- May train and mentor co-workers.
- Analyzes documentation and tracks completion to meet regulatory requirements.
- Promotes principles of health information accuracy, transparency, currency, accessibility, relevancy, and reliability.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2+ years of customer service experience
- 2+ years of experince in a clerical or administrative setting
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel (create, edit, save documents and spreadsheets) and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)
- Must be able to work onsite at 333 North Smith Avenue St. Paul, MN 55102
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- Ability to work full-time, Monday - Friday between 8:00am - 4:30pm CST including the flexibility to work occasional overtime given the business need
- 2+ years experience in health information management (HIM)
- 2+ years experience working in a health related environment
- 2+ years medical terminology experience
