POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Chief Operating Officer
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Position Reports To: TN CEO
General Statement of Responsibilities:
The Chief Operating Officer, under the supervision of the TN CEO, to assesses, seeks out, and
pursues new development opportunities. The COO is responsible for the development of
public and private collaborative agreements; new services and/or acquisitions; promoting a
strong corporate culture focused on a balanced approach to the business of human services.
Position Duties:
Enhancing collaborative relationships with government leaders and community stakeholders;
and provides ongoing support and guidance to State Executive Leadership; contributing to the
Performance Improvement Cycle, including the analysis and use of data to continuously
improve client and program services; using innovation with input from the team to establish
annual goals for program improvement in relation to corporate goals in the areas of fiscal
management and program development; providing leadership and support in the negotiation
of and execution of contract proposals; identifying state and national trends which support
community-based mental health alternatives among diverse populations; identifying and
assessing national, state, and local marketing opportunities through conferences, workshops,
vendor fairs, etc; ensuring Providence’s programs are represented at applicable events;
providing leadership and ongoing support in the development and implementation of new
service markets; establishing facility budgets; maintaining fiscal integrity and sustainability at
the program level by keeping a balance between cost control and resources for expansion and
improvement; initiating marketing plans; building internal and external relationships with
integrity; coordinating region-specific accounts payable and accounts receivable; improving
pursuit of organizational excellence for Camelot operations through working directly with
Regional VP’s and Cost Center Directors; reviewing systems and correcting operational
inefficiencies, while simultaneously working to maximize performance; interviewing and
hiring employees; planning, assigning, and directing workflow; appraising performance;
disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues; and other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications:
A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Law,
Business Administration, or related field. A minimum of 5 years experience in program
management, supervision, administration and development; proven experience facilitating
collaborative public and/or private partnerships; and sensitive to other cultures and
socioeconomic levels.
