To find out more about AST please, click the following link - Applied Signal Technology: WHO WE ARE **This position will be based out of the Salt Lake City, UT location** Relocation Assistance Provided As a Principal Communications FPGA Engineer you will be a key member of the Engineering Center Technical Team and will collaborate with a broad spectrum of talented engineers as you pursue and implement AST engineering objectives. You will ensure technical integrity and effective engineering implementation across all levels of project execution. You will collaborate with development teams, management, mission teams, and customers on product and system solutions that satisfy their needs. You will also provide mentorship and leadership to other engineers within the organization with a focus on the continual development of engineering talent. Required Skills:
- Familiarity with digital signal processing and/or network communications concepts
- Typically requires a minium of 8+ years of experience in the development of digital signal processing and/or network processing FPGA applications
- Strong comprehension of FPGA development environments and FPGA development tool flows
- Extensive experience implementing complex high-speed synthesizable algorithms using HDL programming languages such as VHDL, Verilog & SystemVerilog
- Experience in all aspects of FPGA development using industry standard FPGA tools such as Vitis, Vivado, and Quartus
- Experience working with CCA and SW development teams to interface with FPGA components
- Proven ability to design, implement, and document FPGA designs from component level specifications
- Proven ability to define and perform FPGA component level integration and test plans
- Proven ability to resolve FPGA integration and test issues in hands-on lab environments
- Experience with or basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments
- Active and Current DoD TS/SCI or higher security clearance
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 6 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
- Experience providing reliable development FPGA cost/schedule estimates
- Experience with software languages used to interface to FPGA applications (Matlab, Python, C)
